I soaked a bunch of my clothes in Permethrin to wear hunting mushrooms this time of year. I have been in neck high weeks, briars, etc., numerous times in the last 6 weeks and have not seen one tick since wearing permethrin treated clothes. Mosquitos barely come near me and when they do, it's buzzing in my ears. I'm going to do all of my mild weather hunting gear and squirrel hunting stuff before season starts. I also spray it on the house around the doors and windows and up in the gables and stuff. keeps wasps and flies away quite well. not only does it repel them to some extent, but Permethrin kills whatever bugs touch it. shit really works. piles of dead fake stinkbugs and wasps on my porch now, piles up those damn Japanese ladybeetle friggin things, too. bought a quart of the concentrate on Amazon. it's enough to make 30 gallons or something. two tablespoons in a gallon of water yields the .05% solution to treat clothes. Permethrin is absolutely the real deal.
Is the lifespan longer when using concentrate? I think 6 weeks is about the max for Sawyers.

I can't speak to the longevity, but I do know that clothes that are treated should be washed on a gentle cycle and not line dried. the agitation breaks up the molecules of the chemical and its bond to the fabric, and sunlight also breaks down the permethrin on the molecular level. the concentration I used (.05% one half of one percent) is the same as the ready made sprays like Sawyers. the concentrate is very inexpensive compared to Sawyers ready to use stuff.

I think at the recommended mix for clothing and general use it makes 30 gallons. very inexpensive, very effective.

Can't stand ticks. Not sure how many I've pulled off of me already. Last weekend I was out checking cams and as I walked up to one I felt something crawling on my shin, looked down and there was nothing there. Looked harder and all of a sudden I seen a circle of what looked to be like dust the size of a half dollar start crawling. I had just walked thru a ball of freshly hatched ticks. You could hardly see em they we're so small. If I would have had a torch I would have torched my leg. I launched as many as I could off my leg then just ground the rest into my leg, luckily they were fragile enough that grinding them into my leg smashed the rest. Much rather deal with wasps or any other bug, never heard of a wasp crawling up someone's butthole.

Dude, spray down! Odorless and last a while. Doesn’t just repel bugs, kills the little bastards.

the one thing about permethrin is that it does not discriminate. kills honey bees, butterflies, praying mantis, spiders and other desirable bugs right along with all the pests. it is also extremely lethal to cats if they get into any wet permethrin, but is used as a flea dip for dogs. very dangerous to aquatic life as well, so don't spray near the water. pretty dangerous stuff until it's dry

I used to but found even with permethrin treated clothing I still get ticks. So now I wear shorts so I can at least feel the bastards. Fewer bites and I won't get cancer from permethrin!

No thanks, I hate feeling them on my skin! Seems I never feel them till they’re on my neck.

Back home in Ms we had a 55 gallon drum with a lid that was filled with water and permethrin mix to about 6 inches from the top. Grab a dog and throw em in and hold the lid on for a minute. Their head would be above water. Throw em out and let em run. Way better than sitting on the porch with a mason half full of motor oil picking ticks off dogs once a week.

Went out yesterday to check 3 cams. Didn't walk more than 300 yards. Took Giles advice. Wore TREATED clothes and pants instead of shorts. On my way out I checked my ankles. And noticed my socks right away. Looked like I had walked thru fkin saw dust but the shit was moving! I was covered. So I took off like a bat out of hell for home. On the 15 minute drive home I could feel them digging in. Closer I got home the closer I could feel the biting come to my balls. FOUND ONE ON MY DAMN BALLS AND HE WAS DUG IN! FUGGGGGG TICKS. Giles, when are you gonna get here to remove this, been waiting all night.
