Hunter that killed buck buddy named a few streets south of town, hard to believe that buck moved 3-5 miles from where I have seen him. If he indeed was shot in the area he claims then fine but if he was lying about street names why? Why lie? Just state I'd rather not say. The deer intrigued me, just curious as to where he was shot, where he spent his summers, where he bedded etc...

If I ever kill a giant, you can bet your ass I'd be lying to everyone but the GW. I'd be claiming all kinds of shenanigans. I doubt the truth will ever come out. And if the GW wasn't part of the entire deal "after the shot", he will find out the truth on a buck of this caliber. Then the story will come out in due time.

That's why me and others question the validity of this deer. Because we know 100% where it lived. And circumstances and rumors were hearing are way off especially for an old smart buck during the late season. With warm weather the day he shot it. No need for a mature buck to just randomly leave his home of 3+ years the last week of season. I know the streets named your talking about I believe also. That's the story I heard. But since I know the deer lived on the north side of town that's why I'm not buying the story of this deer.

That's him last year, 200 yards away, taken with zoom on camera, he was awfully skittish at 200 yards away as I was watching him. Wasn't acting like an "urban" deer that was used to human activity, he was still wary of me is my point

Validity meaning, i know its a legit deer. I know it was shot. Just don't know how and if it were legal.
Just saying, had I shot this deer, my story would be out...from day one. Not exact location obviously. BUT, for THIS DEER and the amount of ppl who know of this deer, to say it was shot on the complete opposite side of town 3-4 miles away as a crow flies is suspicious to me. And probably to others who know the deer. That's all. A deer with this amount of followers as he lived shouldn't have a story 3-4 miles off. Especially when people stated (the hunter who shot it, HIS FRIEND) said he saw it the day before on the north side of town where everyone locally knows he lives.

And by legal I mean mostly.......IF IT WAS SHOT ON THE BUCKS MAIN HOME! ( inside city limits).
But out of a vehicle wouldn't surprise me where this buck was either.

Has the guy that shot it been a straight up guy too this point? Do you know him? Like Giles stated, I'd done same thing.... Unless law enforcement straight up investigated me, no one would know the story....

Agree alpha. Again hard to believe he wasn't shot over a bait pile, personally I have a hard time withe idea of bait piles. Not knocking anybody that does, I never have but I wouldn't say that I ever wouldn't but it would be less satisfying. If you hunt on the edge of a cornfield are you hunting over a bait pile, less concentrated yes but still bait? I do think in all likelihood he had access to his area and had access to some good attractants, how else would you be able to kill a non rutting buck like that without a tremendous amount of luck

I know nothing about this . But one thing that's certain is whenever someone kills a megadeer there's rumors , stories , and nay sayers questioning everything about the deer and the hunter .

Carp. I agree. BUT, Im talking about this story isn't making sense to people who 100% know where this deer lives. And its in city limits. So why lie and tell everyone WHO ALREADY KNOWS the deer's wherabouts ? That's just asking to be questioned when your group of friends is stating you shot a deer 3-4 miles plus away from where a lot of ppl know that deer lived.
Just info to chew on. Where that buck lives and was stated to be killed, he would have had to cross a very busy highway, a plethora of businesses, and approximately ant least 2 more roads. In the late season, on a 50° day when it was shot, and as said 3-4 miles as a crow flies from his home of 3+ years in the city where he is safe.

And I live on the road where they say the buck was killed. No one here knows the hunter or anything of a big deer shot on our road.

If you dont know for sure it is better to keep quiet, why be part of the rumor mill, for all we know it was a legal kill.
Always hate it when somene kills a big deer and all the crap starts from rumors.
If it was not then let the GW sort it out.
