The only pic that I have handy of the motor that I sandblasted myself. Pretty much everything on the motor; original intake, outtake, block & valve covers. The heads are new rebuilds though and the oil-pan was new. I did the driveline, plow, plow-frame, and some of the truck frame under the bed as well, but I don't have any photos just handy for ya. I painted after the sandblast.

When I do the truck again, it will be painted with quality stuff. The truck is still super solid despite all the winters I plowed and salted, about 10 years as a regular work truck and nearly two years parked . Motor stills looks good too after 12 years, just needs a little work. I wanted to get on it, but we recently got the approval to build our new home, so, it'll be on the back burner once again in my list of priorities.

I love this truck! Takes me back to the ole-days.

Anyways, good luck again in whatever you get and/or do.

Nice pickup truck Dave! Good luck in getting it to where your comfortable with it! It's a dirty job, but well worth it IMO if you want to get more miles out it.

I just wanted to share the rest of this old project of mine cause I was going through old archive files earlier in the week looking for somethin else and I came across these old photos, where I could not find them when I posted the previous post. Like I said, I sandblasted whatever I could get to where I planned/needed on doing work/repairs on this old 96 F350 SD pickup.

I will be doing it once again here sometime in the near future, utilizing my sandblasting equipment. As you can see, this work was performed back in 2009 and it's held up real well over the years. This pickup was exposed heavily to all kinds of salt for about 8 years straight afterwards doing all kinds of snow removal and spreading out salt out of the back of my truck with a 600lbs. salt spreader for my clients back then. I would have a whole pallet of salt on the back of this 1 ton truck to replenish my salt spreader, and to kept weight on the truck for better handling during slippery road winter conditions when I was out doing snow removal.

Below is a brief video with a small example of information/photographs of motor and motor compartment breakdown after sandblasting it that is mainly for anyone else that may be considering a vehicle restoration project sometime in the future as another option for you. If you have access to that kind of equipment, it makes it a breeze for getting rid of old paint, rust, oil and greases.

Hope that it's cool with you Dave that I followed up on this? I will create my own thread when I get around restoring this pickup once again. It may be a while though, or not, it all depends on how ambitious I feel about doing it again.

It's fine Denny, share away. I prefer the single threads for this information. Even when I searched it here on TOO there was multiple huts but the full information was spread between multiple threads. That is why I started this one.

Here is the side views as of now. Need a set of wheels still and tint is scheduled for next month. Body work isn't great, paint isn't great. It pictures good and is fine for a 50' truck. Not like I'm gonna show this thing. Just made it all one color and took care of the rust. Lol. Just wish the guy had picked another color. It will be a perfect candidate for a wrap if it bothers me that much.

Looks like a solid pickup for sure Dave! I have one of these headlight restoration kits that does a great job on headlights, to get those lenses back to looking brand new again. I recommend it for yours. Looks like they could use it? It's a snap to do, and does not take long at all. Might take two or three applications/attempts, and that should do it for you to get them back to looking brand new once again.

Once you put this much work into the prep. . .do yourself a favor and use multiple coats of POR15. Multiple thin coats. The second and their coats take minimal time compared to all the prep work youve already done. That is my 2 cents and I have done a handful of these. A little rust peaking thru on a dump truck bed is no big deal. If this is your daily driver and a keeper, spend the extra couple hours on multiple coats.

1 gallon and you'll have left over. I'd guess 2-3 quarts of you do multiple coats. I think they recommend 2 thin coats. 2 quarts "might" get you by.

After reading @"J" reply and thinking about my experience, is recommend listening to J. I think we did the frame and the underside of the dump bed with the gallon. It wasn't just the frame.

Thanks I have used it years ago and it is permanent. I am not sure the whole frame needs it, just going to clean up and do the areas of rust and the welds. For a northern truck it does not have much rust, must have been washed during the winter.

here are few pictures of the frame, not great quality they came off a video.

Glad I seen this , Ive been considering this for my 96. Also is anyone up by me that can recommend a body shop??? I'd like to get the pass rocker replaced and a small spot fixed on driver's fender . Everyone Ive asked says all the good local ones went to shit with different family members taking over. There was a really good one close but they only do insurance claims now , said it wasn't worth their time to do anything else.
