Spent the weekend at the cabin dove hunting and checking cams. Also hung a few stands. My 11 yr old had a blast, a lot of shells shot and we managed to knock a few doves down.

Seen a ton of deer over the weekend but not the one I’m after. Did end up shooting a yote Sunday morning and seeing another one Sunday evening. He had the deer running and blowing all around me. So when he came into 15 yds, I let one fly. Ran about 40 yds and crashed.

Hunted yesterday evening with 12 deer sighted, two small bucks and 10 doe/fawns. Boy, the weather was humid, I can't wait for that first frost morning sit.
My main target has seemed to transition to another area and hasn't showed his face for a week. I'm going to hunt one of my oak flat stands in the morning, same stand shot yote from, and do some scouting afterwards. I have my suspicion where he's at and will hopefully find the sign that I need.

This 2 acre plot used to be wooded and was cleared two years ago. Planted clover after clearing and it came up pretty good. This spring and summer was just to wet to maintain and weeds took over the plot. Labor Day we sprayed gly and killed the plot. Sept. 14 we spread seed/fertilizer and mowed. This is the first throw and mow I’ve really had luck with. Mix of turnip/radish/ wheat/ winter rye and buckwheat. It looks fantastic and the deer are really hammering it with these cooler temps we’re having.

Just returned last night from our trip to Oklahoma for their muzzleloader season. Weather was ok most of the time. Thursday we had sustained winds at 20mph and gust up to mid 50’s but that didn’t stop the deer movement. We punched two tags that day with mine being the first in the a.m. and Dad filling his tag in the evening.

We went 2 for 3 with my cousin air balling one the last evening sit. It’s always a great hunt out there and looking forward to 2022. Now it’s time to hit these OH bucks!
