Walked over 18K steps today and just got exercise. Found a lot of opened up scrapes the last two days so many bucks must still be holding and have love on their minds still.
Here is a pic of the most common find of EVERY shed hunter…..lol

Troof! I find one just about every time I’m out. Pisses me off whenever I see a balloon release on tv….with the wind direction here in jersey usually coming from west to east, most balloons end up in the ocean where turtles mistake them for jellyfish and eat them. Gets caught in their digestive tract and kills them. Should be against the law.

And if you bring up banning the practice, you’re a racist because it’s a cultural thing…..

the typical SE Ohio mature deer. I think this deer will be 6.5 this year. I have his other side from last year sitting on my desk. He hasn’t grown much. Call him Captin hook cause that little bend in the beam.

lot of deer still holding - I’ll start looking hard in a few weeks. Happy to find one!

Walked a little over 13K steps today covering a farm I stopped walking on early April last year after greenup blew up and my own work projects around the house needed my attention. Found #2 while standing on a huge treetop 5 ft off the ground looking out about 30 yards away. I knew it was an oldie due to how white the 3 tips sticking out of the leaves were. I hopped down and went to pick it up and while searching for its mate I found #3 tucked inside a tangled mess of treetop brush next to a log. I looked everywhere I had permission to walk looking for their mates but to no avail and no biggie. The buck could still be carrying the mate of the freshie I guess. It’s probably going to be another lean year in the shed dept after getting hit with EHD really bad last year.
Good luck to everyone in their pursuits.

First pic is from where I first spotted #2. It’s at the base of the double trunked tree to the right near the center of pic.

I suck at shed hunting, I’ve only found 3 or 4 while actually looking for them. I went and pulled a camera and put 2.98 miles on my boots while I was back there and didn’t find shit 😂
Sunny days are the worse and for me the best are overcast days especially after it rains. Walking in mud sucks ass though. I like to walk fast in fields for the cardio but slow it down to a crawl in timber and cover looking away from sun on sunny days.

Take a shed and lay it down or throw it. Find it to start your hunt and it'll help train your eyes to look for it. I have 3 that I don't care if I don't find. If I'm struggling, ill throw all 3 and find them. It helps and you will be shocked how hard it is to find them when you throw them yourself. Lol

That happens. Took me 2 days once to find one I threw. That was even with starting back from the point I threw it multiple times. I don't normally do that because it makes it easier. I watched a video the other day with a guy posting one he found, the match was 10 yards behind him and he never seen it. I wanted to tell him, but I can't stand the dude. I'm sure someone told him, but it wasn't going to be me.

I did that once and didn't find it until 3 weeks later.

Yeah, I think my 2 biggest issues the other day were it being sunny af, and I kept getting distracted with deer sign and was probably moving way too fast. I’ll wait for a rain day and try again, and who knows how many have dropped in the area (that’s my excuse for not finding any lol).
