So did he find out before or after there was a police report filed?

When is irrelevant. It's been established that he did and failed to act.

From the report.
Failed to take sufficient management action relating to Zach Smith’s misconduct and retained an Assistant Coach who was not performing as an appropriate role model for OSU student-athletes. Permitting such misconduct to continue is not consistent with the values of the University and reflects poorly on Coach Meyer

It is relevant. Because if he found out after the police report was filed then wtf is he supposed to do?

gimme a break. student athletes and coaches don't have to abide by the same rules, Joe. comparing Tressels' scandal with this one is not realistic. I'm guessing that you think he should have been fired? nothing left to debate, bud. it's over. only a matter of time before this sort of crap springs up down Sabins' way. they all do this shit, we all know it, and we keep watching anyway. ain't no thing.

They already said WTF he should have done. If no charges were filed how can anyone prove he misconducted himself?

No matter the outcome, someone is going to be bitching. That is all I will predict.

Personally, is hate to lose Urban. Of he was guilty, aided and assisted in covering things up, and deserves what he gets? I'm going to wish our new coach good luck. If he was not guilty of anything, then I hope he doesn't get tossed out with the bathwater. Knowing Smith was an ass years ago doesn't mean he knew it was continuing. Doesn't mean he was aware of EVERY single thing Smith was doing. How are we to know? As a fan I can only wait and listen to the outcome. It is what it is.

I waited. I saw the outcome. I was right. "Either way, someone is going to bitch." Let's play football and bring on deer season. Or does that go against the rules of debate? 😙😁

My opinion? I think after the announcement Jim Tressel was screaming "Are you fucking kidding me!"

Tressel "resigned" after it was discovered that he knew a few players had received tattoos and cash for memorabilia and he failed to report it to the university. When asked he said that he didn't know about it, but later emails surfaced that proved he did and failed to tell the university or discipline the players.

In this case
Urban claimed he knew of the 2012 domestic violence incident but didn't report it because no charges were filed. Despite that he still hired him in 2014 and claimed ignorance to any events after that.

The results of the investigation proved that he had a reasonable purpose to believe the accusations and should have notified the university and fired him. It also proved that he knew the coach took dick picks in the Whitehouse and various places around campus yet still didn't report it or fire him. It also proved that he knew the coach took recruiting trips where he took highschool coaches to strip clubs yet didn't report it or fire him.

They both claimed ignorance. The only difference between the two besides the fact that Urbans accusations were far more serious than some stupid golden pants for a tattoo trade, was the smoking gun of evidence that he knew and therefore lied. This is likely why once the news broke urban pulled a Hillary and started deleting texts and emails prior to handing over devices.

At the end of the day if people look at this on its face, it's blatantly obvious that Urban committed the same infractions that Tressel did with the turning a blind eye, ignoring it, and lying about knowing. Except Urban did it with far more agregious issues than tressels pants scandal. If even half of the same standards were upheld against urban as they were tressel its clear to see that he should have been fired.

However, while it's clear to pretty much everyone that he lied and that there is no way in hell he couldn't have known, the smoking gun emails that prove such, and got tressel fired, is lacking. This allowed the university just enough wiggle room to save their beloved coaches ass. The only loose end was they had to do something so they suspended him for three games.

In my opinion. They got him on what they could get him for absent a smoking gun. However despite the lack of that smoking gun its still pretty obvious what happened so they needed to run some serious cover to help him out. Hence the university making claims on his behalf thst he misspoke at the media day event.
Joe, how about the readers digest version, yes or no.... 😂😂😂

It is very realistic if you understand what exactly this was about. None of this was ever about if she did or didn't get beat, or if pants were or were not sold. The entire focus of this was on what did URBAN know, and what did URBAN do. The same for Tressel. What did he KNOW, and what did he DO. Tressel was not fired for what his athletes did, Urban is not suspended for what his coach did. They are held accountable for THEIR actions. Their own actions is what was being judged.

The comparisons are stark and similar between the two. What did they know and what did they do about it. You have a misconduct that was comitted, then the turning of a blind eye, and lieng about knowledge in both instances.

As such my previous statement about how one had a smoking gun and the other smartly pulled a Hillary likely saved his ass. I never said the man should have been fired. I said they got him on what they could get him on, but it's blatantly obvious what the reality was, they just didn't have a smoking gun like with tressel which gave them wiggle room to save his ass.

Wanted to respond to this separately. You're likely right. There has been some shady stuff that went on. One difference however is Sabin won't need to delete his text messages or emails. Hes said many times that he doesn't use them and only has a flip phone.
