None of that has ever happened on an SEC team. Lordy knows it NEVER happened at Bama U. Just because it’s unfounded or not reported doesn’t mean it’s never happened, right Joe?

It’s like the DEMS saying damn all the Rep all to hell for all these sins and lewd behavior cuz we’re above that and it never happens on our side of the aisle. 😂

FUNNY GUY YOU ARE😂😂😂😂

Switching debate tactics to "Tu QuoQue" or "Whataboutism" does not change the facts at hand brother.

Tu QuoQue - a retort charging an adversary with being or doing what he criticizes in others

Whataboutism - The tactic is a type of logical fallacy that attempts to discredit the opponent's position by accusing hypocrisy. It functions as a diversionary tactic to distract the opponent from their original criticism. Thus, the technique is used to avoid directly refuting or disproving the opponent's initial argument.

I hate to throw this piece of info into the debate, Saban a few years back didn't hire the best coach in Alabama High School Football to his staff because the High School coach was having an affair on his wife. Saban had heard the rumors and flat out asked him, the coach said it was true and the job offer was rescinded.

Are you assuming im advocating that he should have been fired? I've never stated if i believe the punishment was adequate or inadequate. I simply stated that the findings proved exactly what the accusations were. 1. He knew. 2. He didn't act appropriately in an effort to keep him. They simply decided not to fire him for it and suspend him instead. Just because someone received a lesser sentence than the death penalty does not vindicate them.

no, I'm rather agreeing with you. perhaps I was not impeccable with my words. it was early.

obviously, he fucked up. I don't think anyone is disputing that, not even the man himself. the offense was not egregious enough to fire him, apparently. and I don't think him not getting fired is any sort of vindication. I don't think he should have been fired for what he was accused of, and I thought that all along, pending discovery of him doing something far worse than what he was accused of, which did not happen as far as we know. firing him for this would have been a absurd overreaction, considering his reputation and accomplishment. Urban Meyer simply does not have the reputation or track record of being shady or a sleezball. when you are among the best at what you do, you get preferential treatment most of the time. fact of life, but how that factored into the Boards' decision, nobody but they knows.

so, do you think he should have been fired, or does the punishment fit the crime?

They won a few back in the early 90’s...that’s when I was just a young punk and rooted for the M out of pure teenage anger. Just wanting to be different. Nowadays I like to follow my roots... O-H!

My opinion? I think after the announcement Jim Tressel was screaming "Are you fucking kidding me!"

Tressel "resigned" after it was discovered that he knew a few players had received tattoos and cash for memorabilia and he failed to report it to the university. When asked he said that he didn't know about it, but later emails surfaced that proved he did and failed to tell the university or discipline the players.

In this case
Urban claimed he knew of the 2012 domestic violence incident but didn't report it because no charges were filed. Despite that he still hired him in 2014 and claimed ignorance to any events after that.

The results of the investigation proved that he had a reasonable purpose to believe the accusations and should have notified the university and fired him. It also proved that he knew the coach took dick picks in the Whitehouse and various places around campus yet still didn't report it or fire him. It also proved that he knew the coach took recruiting trips where he took highschool coaches to strip clubs yet didn't report it or fire him.

They both claimed ignorance. The only difference between the two besides the fact that Urbans accusations were far more serious than some stupid golden pants for a tattoo trade, was the smoking gun of evidence that he knew and therefore lied. This is likely why once the news broke urban pulled a Hillary and started deleting texts and emails prior to handing over devices.

At the end of the day if people look at this on its face, it's blatantly obvious that Urban committed the same infractions that Tressel did with the turning a blind eye, ignoring it, and lying about knowing. Except Urban did it with far more agregious issues than tressels pants scandal. If even half of the same standards were upheld against urban as they were tressel its clear to see that he should have been fired.

However, while it's clear to pretty much everyone that he lied and that there is no way in hell he couldn't have known, the smoking gun emails that prove such, and got tressel fired, is lacking. This allowed the university just enough wiggle room to save their beloved coaches ass. The only loose end was they had to do something so they suspended him for three games.

In my opinion. They got him on what they could get him for absent a smoking gun. However despite the lack of that smoking gun its still pretty obvious what happened so they needed to run some serious cover to help him out. Hence the university making claims on his behalf thst he misspoke at the media day event.
