To update what the problems are. Injector # 8 failure, DPF 100%, DEF injector failure. The more I think about things the more this problem has been manifesting. I just never drove it enough that the concern got my attention. When I got the truck I averaged 18+ mpg, currently down to 16.4. I'd say the injector failed and everything else got overworked trying to do its job. Good news is that we had the fuel tested and no metal in it. Taking this opportunity to have a disaster kit installed and do the basic bulletproofing. Bad news is that I don't currently have anything else to drive...so, I'm rolling the dice and driving it. As I truly believe this has been an ongoing issue.

Yeah, when they put their motors in a Vega is when they lost credibility 😂

Update on my 2500 HD.

2900 miles on it so far. Overall, I love the truck. Love how it handles, love the ride, the ergonomics in the cab, all of it. However from the first week I owned it, I noticed an occasional hard/violent downshift when coming to a stop, dropping into either 3rd or 2nd gear (hard to tell which). I figured it was just the heavy duty Allison tranny “learning” my driving habits. Three thousand miles later it’s still doing it, and maybe even worse than in the beginning. I determined that it only occurs after the transmission reaches at least 140 degrees. Anything below that, it shifts smooth and unnoticeable, as it should.

This morning I took it into the dealer for the first oil change. I explained the issue I was having and I took their Transmission Technician for a 20 minute drive to show him first-hand. He agreed something isn’t right with it. After some research, he decided to order a new valve body for the transmission. It’s on backorder, of course. Hopefully that will take care of the shifting problems.

It sucks that even brand new vehicles are plagued with so many problems it seems these days. As much as they cost, it shouldn’t be that way. But I guess that’s what warranties are for.

Hate to hear it Jim. Maybe hook a trailer up and use it like it's made for, its a slow learner😆🖕
Ha! Hey, it’s towed a few things. Actually just pulled a 15’ batwing mower a couple weeks ago. Over 1300 pounds of tongue weight. I was glad to have the HD that day. Never could’ve done it with my F150.

I’m doing my best to give GM a chance here. I’m optimistic that it’ll be made right. I hope.

Hope it is nothing. It is disappointing though. I'm afraid to sell my 06 Dodge while I'm driving a 22 F350 still under factory warranty. New stuff sucks.

They went full model change and seeing some of the Big 3 problems in doing so….

they had issues with the v8 when it first came out. The difference is that in the past they addressed the issues much better than the big 3, after all they are the #2 car maker in the world.

BTW, the truck I was going to keep stock is not stock anymore. We did go with very mild tunes. The last thing I'd like to do to it is a 4" cowl hood. Just because I like them and when this turbo goes out...I could fit all the piping for 2! 😆

I should be getting it back Tuesday. She did a dyno pull this morning and I'm kinda impressed for what it is. I'll post the sheet once I get it. He just called me to tell me to tell me. 600+👍🏾
