I didn't realize GM went to a 10sp. Pretty cool it can put the 910 ft/lb to the ground and hold it locked out in 1st.

Those 3 are on a run away course not only in power, payload and towing, but first to break $100K for a new truck!

YUP! Sky seem to be the limit at this point. Amazing what people are willing to pay for these advancements. I feel if one of them makes a truck the average person could afford, they’d run away with sales. As cool as the numbers and technology is, most can’t afford it.

It's okay if they cannot afford it. People will still attempt to buy them. Majority of the people do not "need" this much truck anyway. Why not jump to the 4500/5500 series if you feel the need to have 1000hp? I don't get it.

Comfort, easy of parking, still fits in the garage. Lots of reason to stick to a pickup cab and chassis.

I suppose. Then again, if I truly need a truck with 1000ftlb of torque it is probably not on a one ton chassis. If I can afford a $70-100k truck for personal use I can afford a building for it. Lol

Phil, that is exactly what I was saying earlier about foreign countries.

We have a niche lifestyle and opportunities here compared to them. We tow or haul for fun which requires the 3/4 - 1ton. I need minimum of a 3/4 ton from a payload standpoint, and the diesel helps in the mpg, reliability and resale value I need with my daily commute.

I don't need a diesel, a gasser would work but I like a 5yr./100K warranty over 3/36K. Sure a gasser would get me there and be able to stop us, but the whole driving experience is that much better with a diesel. In the end it goes back my personal motto of have it and not need it then need it and not have it. This is engrained in everything I do, right wrong or indifferent lol.

Shut yer yapper Adam. You are the exception. :p

Honestly, you impress me with your research into this stuff. Most people hauling a camper do NOT do the math. They sell the wife on the idea of a camper. Show her some bohemoth. She falls in love with it. Then they drop the bomb "Honey I need a bigger truck. This one with 1000ft lb of torque will do. Plus it will make my willie longer. And it is only $75k. Sure, my truck is paid off. Sure we could hire someone to haul it 30min to the lake in the spring, and bring it back home in the fall. But. . . I need this truck to pull our new camper. . . Even though I jack knife the yard cart hooked to the garden tractor."

No way man definitely not the exception. No doubt there are some douches out there but I believe most understand their situation and budget and will opt for a diesel upgrade and a 3/4-1ton works just fine. A trip to tractor pulls, race tracks (u were just at one), and rodeos will confirm this I feel.

God Bless this country and our every lasting thirst of bigger n better when it comes to engines😁

Fair enough. Maybe it is the friggin idiot that leaves the lasting impression on me and I forget about the guy who did his homework? 😁. Similar to the Tundra/F150 hooked to a 30' 12k# fifth wheel. They stay in my brain although I overlook the 50 guys set up properly.

No doubt they do exist lmao!

I have weighed the option of a 1/2 ton with a diesel and still can't do it. Any kind of decent load still maxes out or puts a 1/2 out of the running.

Example, I can go and cut that maple up at the propertyand bring it home /move it all in one trip. If I had a 1/2 ton, that's 2-3 trips.

Don’t throw me in the mix! I was scared to death to run my half ton 18 miles up the road at Max. Then I tried like hell to buy a HD with gas motor... Ended up buying the best option in my budget. By default I ended up with another diesel truck.

Going to check out an F150 with the 3.5L Ecoboost after work. Anyone towed with one before? If yes, please let me know in what config (cab/chassis/trim), and what your thoughts are.

For those not towing with one, what kind of real life mpg are you seeing?

I get 18-20 mpg. I’ve pulled out boat all over the place. It’s not a huge load like a camper would be, but it isn’t a John boat either. I like the thing well enough at this point. It’s about to make a pretty long trip, I may change my mind by Sunday. :)
