Look, it's an awesome deer and I'm really happy for the guy... It's a deer of a lifetime without a doubt. Killing a big deer 'on the way' to the food and shooting deer in food plots may be similar... I have no problem with that... But shooting them while their nose is in the pile is not the same thing, IMO. From the story on OGF, this is how I interpreted the hunt. To each their own.... It's just not for me. I know a guy who has a wall of big bucks, and acts like he's the Great White Hunter... Yet damn near every deer on that wall was killed with it's nose in a bait pile. There's no skill in that. Put him in an unfamiliar woods without the option of baiting and he wouldn't have a clue how to kill a deer. I'm not saying the guy that shot this giant is like that, but that's a big reason I'm not a fan of that style of hunting. I'm sorry if I come off as an elitist 'holier than thou' jerk with this response, but I assure you that's not my intent. I've shot does over a pile of corn and had no problem with it... I was there to shoot 'em not hunt 'em... to put meat in the freezer. Shooting a monster buck on top of a bait pile just takes away some of the majesty in it don't you think?
