Haven't seen anything but a black cat and squirrels today. Very little action on cams here too. Cold and calm. Nov 1st. I dont get it.

First sit of the year. Hunting the ghosts of bucks past. It's a half-hearted effort knowing full well there's nothing here for me to shoot, but at least I can enjoy the view knowing the work that went into this spot.

70% of the deer at my house died from EHD, so several of us in the area agreed not to hunt this year. We lost 60% of the deer at the farm, including all the older age class bucks, so I'm not shooting anything there unless I get lucky and something wanders through that I'm not aware of. My cameras show zero sign of pre-rut or rut activity. One of my best camera spots is over a scrape on an inside corner. By this time, I should have 10+ different bucks on cam there. I hung the cam 2 weeks ago and it still hasn't taken a pic of a deer. Spent 20 years developing that far only to have a catastrophic hard reset this year.

Reserved my best spot till this evening. Historically the bucks start moving here around Halloween or 1st or 2nd and on. No shooters but there's just something about beating deer at their own game and not getting busted. I've had kill opportunities on 5 of my 6 sits. It'll run out before long. Let a 5pt and doe through at last light. Got tomorrow morning then back to work for couple days cuz I changed vacation around for the dreaded 3rd grade veterans celebrations lol. Buck on cam hopefully makes it another year or two.

Skunked as well . Only seen i this morning , but there cutting the corn as i type this , might see good action tomorrow. .
That sucks. Hopefully you get a stranger to come through that presents a good shot.

Sure feels deery out but skunked so far. I do know without a doubt EHD does not affect squirrels, good grief.

Bucks are moving, but this is where my stand is this am....good luck !
one buck and 11 does out my front door this morning coming to my property. Guessing this was the same group that was in the last corn field by my house harvested yesterday. Definitely had plenty of time to get in front of him to the same spot they always cross the road to my lane and kill him as he lead the way and would have been my largest buck ever, but I have no freezer space and got a house build and no time for a mess.

Target buck showed up an managed to duck my arrow.. I've heard of it happening just never had it happen to me before. He never seen me but still took off running to the next county. Sucks thats the only nice one I have on camera for this spot, doubt ill sit the evening now. Good luck to those that are out

Two dinks cruising. I have bout half hr left then headed to church and done for the day.
Just finished my french toast, enjoying coffee, and watching other people kill deer on YouTube. That's how bad EHD has been for me
