I got back home Sunday around 4 pm. Our park was really hit hard. My street and the one behind me had 52 red stickers on homes. Myself and a couple of buddies got my place emptied of everything salvageable, got the roof in the dry and cleaned up all the debris and took it to the curb. I hired a contractor and he is currently gutting our place to the stud walls including the floor.

I will post some pics when I can, but they won't do justice to the damage that occurred in our town and all down the coast. We talked to a disaster relief contractor and he told us that he has been with his company since 2004 and has been to every major disaster throughout the US. He said that the devastation in SW Florida was the worst he has ever seen.

It was and still is a very emotional time for me and mainly for the older people that now have no homes and some have nowhere to go. It was gut wrenching talking to people to say the least.

When we talked on the phone you could really feel the emotion. Just keep listening to Christy. Now you two can make it exactly what you want.

My parents, who live off of MacGreggor Blvd, rode out the storm in their condo. They made out fine, on the 2F, but just around the corner, the causeway over to Sanibel was a total wreck. Folks are banding together, sharing space, as each other's place is repaired. I hope that you are able to rebuild as you want, in a reasonable time.

Real sorry to see all that devastation down there!

I was just down there for a week in Port Charlotte at my brother's place, just before the storm impact, leaving Monday mornin, just before the storm arrived that Wednesday. During my stay down there, everything was absolutely beautiful and the weather was just gorgeous the entire time too. The claim before the storm, no doubt!

My brothers place faired well throughout the storm's landfall, but most of his neighborhood did not. He helped those in need prior, during and after the storm's impact.

He just finished up spending a week with me at my place, deer hunting. He's soon to return to his home in Port Charlotte with his two fresh Ohio whitetail deer harvests, some real good eaters. I'm sure he'll be cooking much of that venison up for some of his neighbor friends when he gets there.

My heart goes out to all those Floridians and property owners that were negatively impacted by hurricane, IAN.

I sincerely hope that you'll be able to rebuild and recover completely!

Best of luck to you!
