I had 2 Civics. A 99 which had 250k miles when I sold it. Now I have a 2015 with 70k miles. I’m getting 36-39 mpg with the 1.8L. I would buy another. I was looking at Insights last week when I was getting an oil change. The 52 mpg was attractive. Very soon our car market will be electric. It’s coming.

I agree and that insight seems like a great introduction to the market.

The Insights have been out for a couple years now. My 2015 Civic will be paid off in August. My daughter turns 16 in May and has a summer job lined up at the gym which is a half hour away. Might give it her and buy a Civic or Insight for me or her. Figure that out in May. I would say buy them now because when gas hits $4 you’ll be paying a premium for one...if you can find one. Demand will be higher this summer.

Gotta make up for road repairs somewhere. But I'm not sure how taxing people who use less fuel is the answer...shouldn't that mean less road repairs? The road is getting used less.

Their argument was that the people who work from home are using less fuel for work commute reason I.E contributing less to the repair funds, but they're still receiving benefit by using the roads for personal reasons, going shopping, traveling etc so they should still pay for upkeep. It's a BS excuse.

No they were looking specifically to tax those who work from home. like an added income tax. When Dewine passed his emergency covid order he said it was ok for cities to keep taxing people city income taxes who once worked in the city but now WFH in a different city. I paid Dublin city income tax for 9 months before we closed the office there despite never setting foot in the office again. Even after the company officially re-identified my position was 100% WFH I couldn't eliminate my Dublin tax liability until we either closed the office permanently, or 30 days after the Governors emergency order expired. There are two lawsuits in Franklin county right now fighting that order as unconstitutional and demanding that workers are allowed to recover that money. The cities are saying it will bankrupt them due to the sharp loss of tax revenue and they'll have to massively lay off city workers and may fail to meet existing bond payments. So because they're in a bind due to their fucked up city income tax requirements on people who do;t even live there they think it's okay to just steal it.

TDI anyone? Passat is what I've been drawn to the last couple of weeks. I also just found myself looking at new Jetta's. They aren't that expensive. I hope they come back out with the TDI in the states.

Those TDI were badass and were close too mid 50’s on MPG….. Worked with a few guys who’d have a 60+ mile commute each way. They loved them and racked up the miles with little too no non routine maintenance….

I found a 13' with 65,000 and warranty till 123,000 from factory. It's 3.5 hours from me though...seriously thinking about buying it unseen and going to get it next weekend.

I think I’d be a little gun shy going that route but if he’s got plenty of pictures and proof of the warranty, might soften me on that….

Pics and videos help on sight unseen. I've always found extra stuff once home that was bothersome but I already owned it at that point. On a tractor or piece of equipment some blemishes are quickly forgotten. Maybe offer them a couple hundred dollar deposit? Tell them if it is as described you'll be there with the cash on arranged time and date. If not as described, they keep your $200. $200 is much less than getting stuck with a turd.
