Personally, I’m not doing anything this year. My list is very short...

Buy tags

Got the crossbow out again today and we all shot pretty good. Maddy has developed a quick pull...I think we worked past it today. She started getting bored and upset with me, so I called it quits. We’ll pick it back up another day. Kody, Levi and Mom were lights out. Not sure how many more years I’ll be able to hold Levi off, that kids got the drive and understands things he shouldn’t. Still not old enough IMO....

40 days left...what do you have left to do?

Plenty, however I know I'll get'er all done before the opener. I pulled cards this afternoon. I still have a few nice bucks cruising right underneath one of my treestands every other day. Might be an early season for me. We'll see!

You just wrote 17,000 words on NASCAR...I’m not excepting your cheap answer of “plenty”, do explain. Lol

You might bring something up that’ll remind someone else. Or teach someone something new. Spill it, Denny! Let’s hear what you have left.

Alrighty then,,,
  • One hangon that needs to go up with a new cover system in a new area
  • My climber has been hanging on the clothesline for the past week already
  • Clear shooting lanes at all five of my current treestand locations that are in place already
  • Clear any debris & leaves from all my access paths
  • Pull some of my trail cameras out and relocate a one of them into area that's well known for where the bucks bed
  • Come the second week of October, I'll be hanging a couple of Pine Licking Branches & making up one mock scrape
  • Wash all my hunting clothes the week before the opener and let them hang on the clothesline for the remainder of that week.
  • I still have one ladder stand, another hangon and my pop-up ground blind at my disposal. I'll debate whether or not that I'll need them at any point
  • Continue slinging arrows everyday & throughout the season. It's been my religion this time of year for me
And that's pretty much it I do believe. Nothing that has me stressed out by any means. I know I'll get'em done. Oh-btw, I already have my licenses (Deer, Fishing & Furr) & tags. I bought them I think back in April.

Thank you! You do a damn fine job explaining things in detail. I’ve been looking for a perfect place to hang my own PLB for years...still haven’t found the perfect spot. Probably won’t go into that rabbit hole until I buy more property. JustHunt got me hooked on that years ago!

KISS...Keep It Simple Stupid

And that seems so simple stupid and effective. Once a year you hang a white pine branch...no dumping corn or messing with minerals. Just a branch.

Yeah, I usually don't feed the deer anymore during the season, however I will lay out corn or mineral blocks in the late winter to help get a good inventory of who made it.

PLB's are the shit! I highly recommend them.

If you looked at my yard picture from yesterday, you would've seen that I have plenty of very mature White Pines, Daniel and Norway all over the place. Usually during the rut, I have a buck or two that's hooked up with a hot doe hanging out underneath them. I often find scrapes around them as well during the pre-rut.

Good luck to you this season!

Shoot my bow. Might hang another standing one property. Help buddies hang stands. Wash my gear. I don't know. Check some camera cards here and there. Continue road scouting. I'm not overly excited just yet. It will come.
