My son and I did a little project over the weekend. We built a solar powered hummingbird bird bath that we saw on YouTube. Easy little project.

Nothing has used it yet (while we've been watching, anyway). So, being a fly tyer, I decided to make a decoy.

Time will tell. That, and the trail cam I set up. :)

I’ve killed 4 of these big MF’ers around the house lately, and I know they eat other pesky insects but ain’t know way I can’t let these huge arachnids live on or around my castle! NO THANK YOU!!! Lmao
This guy was the smallest of them but would still cover most of the palm of my hand if spread out……he’d suck on Dave’s hand like it was a pacifier. 😎😂🤣

Man, …we had a huge family of squirrels playing in this tree all morning. I was telling Kim I’ve never heard or seen anything like it…they were whistling almost. There were probably 8 or more of them. I told her you watch, one is going to fall onto my truck. Sure enough…..broke its leg or something, ran …or hobbled…under the deck and the dog almost got him. WTH are the chances?! 🤦🏼 Sorry no pics.

I’ve been putting out suet for mainly the local woodpeckers in the area for 6 months or so but now I go through suet almost every 2 days due to the friggin blue jays! Them fuggers are running off everything and tearing the suet up like a pile of buzzards on a ditch side roadkill deer!

Blue Jays love whole peanuts. Get a 25lb bag at the local feed mill and throw a few handfuls on the ground every day or so to keep them off of the suet cakes.

It’s interesting watching them scoundrels though. First you see just one maybe two then inside a week or so them and all their kin, friends, enemies and any other BJ within a couple mile radius are hittin the bird feeder, my newly sowed grass seed areas, my garden, berry patch and anything else that needs ravaging. They start eating anything in my garden shits going south for them in a hurry.

We use one of these that I made and it does a great job of keeping those kinds of birds from eating it. Just hang it in a place where a large bird like a jay can't stand under it and eat.

It's out there in the front yard, a wild turkey working its way towards the feeder I do believe.

She got as close as 20yrds a few minutes ago, just outside the workshop window 🪟. Last night she walked right by me, just outside the door🚪as I wanted to head to the house 🏠. Now her, her little one and a wild turkey (also within pix) have been wondering around, grazing for the last 10 minutes or better all throughout the frontyard. It's been a very pleasant morning with slight fog/smoke and no wind to speak of, but quite active with regards to the wildlife.
