I was close to doing this. . . Then I settled down and bought a house. Then I met my wife and she said "I am glad I didn't fall in love with a guy who lives in a barn." Lol

I love the idea of a pole barn house! It's sweet!! Lots of open space, huge area, and of course a indoor range spot hahah. So showing this one to my girlfriend!

I know of a house outside of Woodville that is an old red barn. It was up for sale a couple of years ago and we did a tour of it, it was pretty cool but a bit fancy for my liking. I know a guy outside of Genoa that has the opposite look going, the outside looks like a house and the inside is a crazy nice woodworking shop.

If building codes is a problem for anyone wanting to do this, you should look into Highland county… I think the only codes here are for septic and leach field.

Some time after WW2, You could look in a Sears Roebuck catalog and order your metal house delivered to your lot. There is one still in existence adjacent to Idora Park, parking lot in Youngstown on Rogers Road.

BTW the old amusement park is loaded with deer and some really nice bucks that come out of Mill Creek Park.

I have a friend up the holler in WV that lives in a sears and robuck kit house. It's not a bad place really. Better than what 90% of these cookie cutter builders produce today.
