Finally have a little time to post, been out here for several days and having a blast.. my buddy Tommy drew an antelope tag so we been hunting Mule deer in the mornings and evenings and antelope in between along with shooting some prairie dogs. We scouted the first couple of days..the deer numbers are way down and they had a bad case of EHD go through the area last year. Have found a few and passed a couple up. We scouted a new area further south and found some deer. Gonna glass some alfalfa fields tonight and figure out how they are moving. Will glass and wait for them to bed in the morning and do some stalks.
The other day we watched a nice antelope chasing does and put on a stalk down a big draw about 400 yards. We peeked over the hill and saw them at 20 yards. He started chasing again and I ranged him at 52 yards and Tommy shot over his back. He stopped with the does and I ranged 72 and he nailed him. Was a blast doing that.
I have seen some elk and been hearing them bugle several days, was cool hearing my first elk bugle in the wild.
Saw a few sage grouse and season comes in Saturday so we might try that also. Saw a few the other day..damn things are the size of a chicken
Will try and check back before we head home.
Now will picture bomb you with some pictures I have taken since we have been here. The terrain here is really diverse. You can be in the pine bluffs one day the next on the prairie and some places you think you are on the moon. Later guys!
