I'm planning on getting a great all around hunting rifle and I'm not sure between a 30-30, 308 or a 30-06. Any suggestions and opinions on these rifles?

You can't go wrong with the god ole 30-06 or 308. The 30-30 is more of a closer range brush gun. Where and what will you be hunting?

Just my .02 if you reload, the .300 win mag can be loaded light. Still a tad overkill for deer-sized game but will be perfect for every big game animal in the states. If you don't ever go over elk-sized game such as moose and brown bear, I'd say the .30-06, .308, or 6.5 creedmoor. .308 and .30-06 will have the greatest ammo availability, though the 6.5 is increasing in options.

Of the three calibers listed, I'd go with the tried and true 30-06... More 06's carried in the deer woods than most other calibers...Good thing about an 06 is that ammo is available everywhere you go... Good Luck with your purchase...

Also a fan of the .30-06 for an all around rifle. I wouldn't hesitate to tote one elk or moose hunting with a 180gr+ bullet, but not dangerous game.

Hard to go wrong with any 30 caliber round. I’d stay away from a 30-30, too many limits of what you can do with it. Love my 30-06 but couple years ago I bought a do anything caliber the 300wsm. It’s bad ass but ammo will run you just short of 50$ a box.

Any of the mainstream calibers will work just fine and be relatively affordable. .30-06 , .308, .270. Any magnum will cost you more per box. I have slightly more eclectic tastes and like 6.5 and 7 mm rifles. Hunting rifles chambered in 7x57mm, .257 roberts, 7mm-08, 6.5x55, and 7mm wsm have all graced my gun safe over the years. The tikka t3 and FNH made winchester model 70's are very nicely made guns the will hold their value that wont break the bank.
