I don’t think the price is crazy. Not much more than the cost of a good steak. A pound of good food aint cheap! I’m actually surprised the perch isn’t more. I expect that to go up here very shortly. Seems to be a shortage on perch the last few years. I wouldn’t be surprised if the walleye price goes down either.

Personally, I’d like to see them tighten up the commercial perch regs on the big lake.

So let's say for the fun of it 6 guys book a charter. 600 dollars. 6 fish per man. 36 fish total. Average fish this time of year is about 19 inches long. I'm estimating the filets will be about 1.25 lbs per fish. So 36 times 1.25 equals 45 lbs of filets. That is a variable of course depending on size of fish. 600 dollars divided by 45lbs = $13.33 dollars per pound. That's just for walleye.
So by my calculations you might as well book a charter with me rather than go to the fish market. Small price to pay for the experience of catching the fish yourself. 😁
Plus fuel for the 7 hour/500 mile round trip. Hotel cost, tip cost, eating meals out, wear and tear on vehicle...from here, the store ain’t a bad idea. If I lived closer, I’d be all over paying someone to take me out! They can have repair cost, storage/ramp fees and cleaning the boat. All things I hate😂

A guy down here asked me to take him and his son out in the next few weeks. He said he’d give me a couple hundred bucks. I told him no money was needed. Then I got to thinking, I’ve taken two buddies and their sons out so far this year. They stayed with us at the camper, didn’t pay for anything. I spent a fair chunk of change for all the stuff they participated in for free... a couple hundred bucks a trip would be a steal. And I have given my guests all the fish! Lol

Here in Cincinnati, you can buy whole walleye/perch at Jungle Jim’s for $6.99/lb (at least last week you could). Probably not as fresh as a place selling near Lake Erie, but that’s a great price.

I guess I’ll probably pass you on my way to Erie, where the walleye are free and jump into your boat.

I ain’t going for fish😂. Craving me an Alaskan Amber and some asian food. My boys have been begging for a trip to Bass Pro for month also. Add that with Dustin not being home, I’ll make the trip. Throw the stone and see how many things I can take out at once.
