People will pay it. Hell they’re paying $40k for a 4 year old truck that went for $50k brand new. When 10 year car loans start showing up they’ll flock too it….

I've been doing some reading again on new vehicles. What are people going to do when a repair cost is more than the vehicle is worth? These diesel motors are getting really damn expensive. Even more expensive is the fuel systems. You can drop $11-15,000 on a failed fuel system! 😳

Yup. I started a thread about commuter vehicles to. It didn't catch on like this thread but I am real happy I didn't buy a hybrid. I'm sure I'll be forced to at some point. But this old used up diesel car fits the mold just fine for right now. I just couldn't justify doubling the issues with a combustible engine and electric motor.

They’re pushing the EV vehicles hard. They have even switched the training to virtual reality. So you show up to the training center and put on the VR and you work in a roped off area 6x6. This replaced the legit hands on training with the actual EV vehicles. My dealer is currently getting all of this EV required equipment installed.

The parts cost more, not really available and they’re a pain to work on. We’re still selling a lot of diesels but the prices are outta sight. Plus dealers are allowed to mark up sticker price by 10% on new vehicles and sometimes more.

Makes you wonder how many are gonna end up dead over messing with things they shouldn't.
I completely agree. With the VR training it just makes a buzzing noise if you do the wrong thing. When it comes to the EV I believe it should be real life training with real cars.

You doin all the work yourself? Curious, how many miles on the motor, cubic inch, make & model?

Please don't feel obligated to answer anything. I'm a motorhead myself that has future plans of rebuilding a couple of ford motors hopefully over this new year, maybe. It'll all happen at my leisure. I'm in no big hurry, but they will be rebuilt right for sure.

Good luck with your mechanical project, Mike!

This is at the dealer with a trusted mechanic. 2015 Silverado 5.3 with 77,000 miles. Pathetic.
