After looking at goats, I’d rather stick to small game. The amount of space and all that isn’t really worth the effort for what I’m thinking.

There is a proven gain by having both meat and milk goats on a homestead but after showing sheep and steers for 4H, I hate fucking goats and lamas.

We grew up with pigmys, unc and cousins had fainters and one mean ass Billy that you needed a 2x4 to hit him in the nuts to be able to get into the back pasture. Love some of their personalities but did I mention I fucking goats!

Back to the scheduled program.

We have thought about getting goats at the house, (not for the reason adam likes them) we have a steep part in our front yard that's already fenced in and is getting pretty over grown. We figured they would help keep the weeds down. Not sure what to expect so far as maintenance on them though. There is already a building in the field so I figure just water and some supplemental feed?

Meat goats are next for me. But the prices of them are unreal. People around here are proud of their goats to say the least. I can't tell whether they're fucking them or eating them, but the market is high!

People are proud of their goats just like people are proud of anything that they raise. Goat meat is eaten everywhere by everyone, if it hasn’t changed then it’s the #1 exported meat out of America. It’s great when fed a diet of good food and it’s pretty damn healthy.

Sounds like you have it figured out. The fence , building, space, grazing area...just keep your wiener out of them.

Canning season is upon us! 4 pints of banana peppers with jalapenos and vidalia onion. Had some leftover brine and a half a red onion, so now I have some pickled red onions for taco night. Can't wait to do some shredded venison burritos with a jar of these peppers mixed in!
