40+ tomato plants?! 😳

that’s just what I did for myself. I grew a few hundred probably. Give dad some, some to my grandpa in law, etc.

I actually have another like 50+ that need matured yet. Those are my grandpa in laws - from Italy. He’s been going them and saving seeds for 70* years. I plan to continue the tradition. I’ll put another 20+ of those in garden, once they mature.

I like growing stuff.

This looks like my set up, I'm a big fan of the black plastic, keeps the weeds down, the ground warm and moist, I do the beans around the perimeter too. Good luck.

I have about 2 foot of cover crop under it. I slightly worked it in for termination. Then I cover with black plastic. Let the biology do the work!!

so basically all this green was then covered.

Excited to see the results!!

I cheated today and hit the local wholesale farm. 😅

2 bushels of green beans
1 bushel of pickling cucumbers
2 bags of jalapenos
1 bucket of strawberries
2 pints of blueberries
1 basket of cherry tomatoes.

$98.

I got 70 blueberry bushes behind mom and dads house. They were in bad shape. I got 2-3 years before I even get a pint lol! They’ll be worth it!! I hope! Hahah working on it slowly.

Got about 1/3 in total as of late this AM, concluding round 1 with home seedlings:

Fri. 5/19/23 planting:
40 Broccoli
-11 Godzilla
-29 Immperial/Burgundy
39 G90 sweet corn
12 bush beans

Saturday 5/20/23 planting:
7 Hossinator cucumbers
4 Bella Rose det. tomato
3 Celebration det. tomato
2 Crimson Sweet Watermelons ('22seeds)
Row of Salt n Roast sunflowers
Row of White Nite sunflowers
Row of Viper carrots

I'm switching to permanent rows now that I have worked this area for a couple of years. The Crimson Clover has been cut and tilled in, using cardboard under natural mulch for in between rows, and loose/light natural mulch around the plants.

What do yall do for water? I have plans to redo the plumbing in my hose so that my hose bibs don't get the salt from the softener. Be straight well water with only a particle filter in line.
Manual labor mostly, but I have used a timer and soaker hoses before. Not a bad way to go either.

Took 8 hours to get this far, but at least I'm 75% of the way there!

34 tomatoes in 8 varieties, 34 peppers in 8 varieties, 16 cucumbers, then a mixed bag of zucchini, yellow squash, watermelon, cantaloupe, peas, brussel sprouts, and pole beans. I'll add some bush beans and a few varieties of corn as time allows this week. I went with the heavy duty fabric this year and am really pleased with it. Will be a saving grace for this busy fella!

Peaches are a little bit larger than a golf ball, had squirrel problems last year as the little bastards were stealing them off of the tree while they were still green. They have also been ravaging my strawberries this year so I had to take action! There have been casualties! 🐿️ 🐿️ Hopefully I can get a good peach harvest this year. I’ve already harvested a couple pints of strawberries and some raspberries. If the flowers on the blackberry bushes are any indication, I should have a bumper crop. Been watering them every other day due to the lack of rainfall here.
