Tipmoose's 2021 Season Thread

Started tinkering with all three bows I have this week. Over the weekend I worked on sighting in my Vengent. Still have some work to do there. Also got back in the saddle with my old, slow Mathews DXT. And just a few minutes ago, replaced the scope on my step son's Barnett Raptor crossbow and sighted it in. Wow was that easy!


Here's a pic of my last volley at 40 yards with the DXT. Haven't shot that bow in over a year. Glad to see it will still do its part.

And here's the Raptor. I put a Ten Point scope on there and it dialed right in. Bounced the first bolt in front of the target though...after some serious adjustments, got consistent groups like this at 20, 30, and 40 yards.

At some point this weekend, I am planning on going out and doing some brush cutting and hang a Bag-r-Buck...and maybe put a cam up. Very skittish on that since I had two really nice cams stolen from this place 5 years ago. I think I'll risk it and just go with El Cheapo cams.

I picked up a couple cheap ones from Rural King. I don't remember the name but they are powered by Stealth. They take great pics but have a loud shutter click. $25

Didn't get the cam put out or the Bag r Buck up...the spot I was looking to hunt is just too damn thick. But I did get the vengent dialed in at 50 yards.

Gonna be a busy weekend. Got 32 lbs of summer sausage going into the smoker and 3 lbs of jerky going into the dehydrator tomorrow. Om nom nom!

The last time I had doves, I made dumplings and boiled the doves until the meat easily came off of the bones and mixed the meat with the dumplings and sauce. Came out pretty well. Something different to try.

I've always just harvested the breaststroke. How bad was cleaning them like that?
