Thanks for bringing this back alive. Gonna be this winters project after the toilet install in the basement. No more freezing in the garage when Dustin and BC come over😂. For now things are still hanging in the main area of the house. Added a couple signs and my 15’ ML buck finally got done.

What’s the story on the freak skull cap on the left by the squirrel? That dudes cool looking!

That was a huge bodied old buck that I arrowed off a nursery farm that weighed well over 300 lbs. Estimated age, approximately 7-9 yrs. old.

He virtually had no teeth in lower jaw. He was definitely on the downward side of his antler growth. I estimated he was somewhere between a 18 - 20 points during his prime with a small basket type rack. On the right side, he was missing nearly half of the main beam with several broken kicker points. On the left side, he has 9 points altogether.

He wasn't very good to eat at all, btw.

The property owner,,, Mr. fruit farmer was very pleased to get rid of him.

Gotta let them old deer hang for a couple of weeks! First day I walk in the garage and smell that sweet smell of bad meat, is butcher day. Do that and I promise you’ll swear it taste just like a B.B.

It was high 70s to 80 degrees out when I took him so, there's no way I would've let him hang for any period of time in those conditions.

Dave nice buck.... But lets be honest... Main reason you like late season hunting is your beer stays cold....

Pic didn't take... Here ya go...
I had a hell of a season a couple of years ago and almost did that with the B.B. that broke my streak. Worst season of my life...that little deer turned my world around and is still one of my fondest memories. A lot of TOOzers might remember that one. They helped me along that season as I needed the drive to get out. Had I not turned around the next day and dropped an 8 point, that little B.B. would be on my wall.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Rich! Made me smile

Dave.. That deer was my first archery deer.. My Dad grew up when the deer population was next to nothing... So growing up he instilled in us not to shoot does.. When that deer walked up to me.. I said buck and shot it.. Deer was a big deer.. I still have fond memories of that deer and to this day have never killed a doe.. Nothing against it, just haven't had the need... Now I gotta start working on filling up that wall...

That’s awesome! Often the word trophy gets lost in translation, that sir is a hell of a trophy! Thanks for sharing the story.

No problem. Never could get a straight answer from anyone on what it is. I believe it is a mix between a wild one and a domestic , royal palm possibly. Thing definitely acted wild though. Was running with two other jakes of regular color when I called him in. Another guy had him during youth with hens and couldn’t call him away. Pic won’t load off phone for some reason. I’ll take a couple of mount when I get home if I remember.
