SHOT Show Review

So last week I went to Las Vegas to go to the annual SHOT Show, and to visit my son and his wife.
Gotta tell you, the show is a little overwhelming - there are so many booths and so many people it's just bananas.
Too much to take in. I kinda figured that going in, so I resolved to just walk and see what I could see, no rush, no pressure, just enjoy myself, and look for something new and interesting. Honestly, to me it was a lot of repetition - how many variations of an AR-15 can you look at? But there were a lot of law enforcement products that were interesting, some things made me say "Why didn't I think of that?", etc etc blah blah.

I'm glad I went, but I won't make it a point to go again, unless I have a specific purpose.

That being said, I took some pictures, saw a couple of products I thought were cool which I'll share. I've uploaded the pics from my phone to my computer, so I'm gonna test one to start. Then I'll make separate posts with comments and grouping the pictures. Won't get everything up in one sitting, so check back if you're interested.

Not show related, but 'Mericuh related - we visited Hoover Dam, an American Engineering marvel. Made me proud.

For the waterfowlers: I thought this was one of the neatest product applications there - colored shot, so that guys hunting together can tell who shot what bird - "who shot the banded bird?" Now you have proof

Here's a link to the coolest thing I think I saw at the show - a gun cleaning rod.
But it's in 5 inch sections, that are connected with a stretchy cord (just like a tent pole).
You straighten it out, they snap together, then you screw the handle on to tighten the whole rig.
Folds down into a tiny little carrying case.

If you ever get an obstruction in the field, your hunt doesn't have to be over if you're carrying one of these...

Let's talk Ruger - I grabbed hold of their Security 9 pistol...not bad, not bad.

But there was a big crowd around the display for the PC Carbine, everyone wanting to get their hands on it and throw it to their shoulder.
I waited my turn, and gotta say I liked it...it was like holding a 10/22 on steroids.


If you'd like a 10/22 takedown but don't wanna shell out the bucks, ProMag/Archangel have this product coming out:

3 or 4 position target rifles, they’re for specific disciplines. The bottom 2 are air rifles. The best small bore shooters in the world shoot Anschutz.

I’m jealous Danny, I’d love to go. Nice you got to see your kid too!
