Saugeyes!

There was a north wind, so I wasn't expecting much fishing action. However, while trolling, a Saugeye nearly tore my rod out of the holder! I caught 2 of them within a few minutes of each other. The first one was 18" and the second one was 17". I was using a Rebel Crawfish (brown & orange), in Metzger reservoir.

Ok, forgive my ignorance, I have fished all my life (I am 58) but what is the difference of a walleye and a saugeyes?

Female walleye, male sauger. They are bred for stocking the inland lakes and reservoirs where natural walleye reproduction is almost non existent. Plus they reach eater size much quicker and are an aggressive fish, making them perfect for a put and take fishery
