Rubber boots and foot care

Someone teach me something on this subject. I’ve never worn rubber style boots every day before. But I have the last two weeks and I’m ready to cut my feet off! The smell is off the charts and has now ruined my regular boots.

What do I do? Throw everything away and start over? I haven’t had foot odor since switching to wool socks. My feet always sweat, always have. Same with my hands.

Any help would be great. My boots and socks are currently on the porch.

Get a boot dryer and put your boots on them at the end of the day. Rubber boots keep the moisture inside and your feet will be damp at the end of the day. When I wear rubber boots for hunting, I’ll get the boot dryer from the basement and put it by the back door.

I will suggest a 2 sock layer. Inner layer needs to be a "wicking" type material to transfer the moisture from your feet to the outer layer sock.
The second suggestion is as stated above. Dry out the boots every night. If you don't have a boot dryer, shove a couple of newspapers in each boot. they will adsorb the moisture out of the boots. ( When I went backpacking, I would use newspapers for wrapping frozen meat (in a bag) to keep frozen a extra day or two. Then, for drying out my hiking boots and after the damp papers dried out, you had a cheater for building a fire...)

What kind of boots are you talking about? Muck type boots? Non-lined chore boots? Help us out here. The black rubber boots ($20-40) with no liner are tough to keep "fresh".

1. use a boot dryer every time you take them off. the bacteria that grow in your damp shoes and make them smell so bad cannot grow in dry boots.
2. use a good wicking sock liner and an appropriate weight wool sock. wear fresh, clean liners and socks every day.
3. have two pair of boots. besides drying on boot dryer, let one pair rest and air out for a day while you are wearing the other. rotate
4. don't be a pussy. :D

maybe use some medicated foot powder? I hear it works, but don't need it, never tried it.
consider a good pair of appropriate style Gore-Tex/leather boot if you can. at least Gore-Tex does breath some.

I never wear rubber boots any more unless I know I'm going to be wading in water over my ankles all day long, like hunting the palmetto swamps in SC. I fucking hate rubber boots.

Muck style is what I wear at work. Then slip into leather/gortex Ariats.

I have a boot drier and scent crusher.

I wear clean fresh lightweight wool socks every day.

A second pair might be worth the buy, along with a second boot drier. Right now I leave the Mucks in the truck and the moisture has been freezing overnight.

Thanks guys, keep them coming! I need to fix this issue in a hurry. Freaking nasty

You guys sure do know how to make a guy feel loved 😍. Lots of good pointers here. Let’s recap.

-Don’t be a pussy
-dry your damn feet and boots
-Dustin and J want to do nasty things to me
-just lick it
-ask you guys for boots your kids grew out of

This is why this place rocks! Solid advice with some ribbing and life advice that has nothing to do with the original question. And it’s only been 12 hours!!!

Helps to also wash your feet. Like they say, shit runs downhill. And it gets stuck between your toes and under the nails. Then you stick the nasty things in a dark damp place that's perfect for bacteria to go wild. A week later your toes fall off!

With all that being said, I dont wash my feet either. Fk that.
