at the time this was the largest cut in the country, completed in 1945 to help with the traffic going to Fort Leonard Wood. Driving on it was like being in the apocalypse with no one around

Very cool and nostalgic. Desolate, isolated, eerie, abandoned. . . .try doing basic training at Fort Leonard Wood. Did you go on post? Were the old wooden WWII barracks still there? That is where I started. 🤣
