I appreciate your sharing this information, so, thank you!

After listening to the entire episode, I am even more interested about the story.

Very interesting information/opinion shared by the 40+ year world renowned and state champion experienced competitor of taxidermy - guy. He really opened my mind on how this guy could have potential pulled off this scam. Now I am even more intrigued regarding this guys original claim of killing this world record class buck. I would be interested in listening to any other expert opinions on the topic. If you know of any others that you or anyone else for that matter could recommend, or point me in the right direction of, I'll check those out as well, thanks!

Again, I never knew about this story until it was pointed out here on the forum. So, going forward, I'll pay more attention on harvested bucks before I share any of my opinions because I really glassed over the original photographs shared previously in this thread.

Again, appreciate your sharing, thanks!

BTW, hard to believe someone would even do such a thing.

Found the other episodes, currently listening to now. Still, if there is anything else someone would suggest, I'd be interested, thanks!

google the mike Avery interview and the recovery video. All 4 of the podcast episodes make you really wonder I can’t wait for #5!

Boys and Girls, if any of you ever shoot a giant, your first call needs to be to the game warden. Second would likely be a lawyer. Third would be your significant other. (They would need to know to STFU) Many of lives have been ruined over big deer. Lots of hunting spots destroyed. All for what?
My first move would be to take nut shots and text them to you.😂

I thought the same thing. Lots of comments about the ears on here and some of the online articles. Droopy ears is very common, depending if rigor has set in
It was me that made the comment about droopy ears.... I'm sorry guys, I'll go re-take my deer hunting 101 course....

My comment wasn't directed at you or anyone in particular. Just seemed like a common theme. I actually had to go back and look for your post. I do agree that droopy ears look unnatural, but even in my own harvest pics it seems common.

Multiple people mentioned the ears. Then I seen it today on a show and it reminded me about this. So I did a quick search and it seems to be pretty common. Figured it was worth sharing.

This one just looks different. Fuggin eyeballs are goofy too. Like a shit job sewing it back together. There are other pics showing the purple colored antlers. After alot of people pointed that out, future photos looked different. You could tell he went back and fixed the coloring

You guys are forgetting too that when this buck was killed the quality of cameras at that time was total garbage by today’s standards. We can be critical of this or that or how it “looks,” but comparing pictures from back then to now isn’t really fair.

I don’t know whether the buck was real or not. Don’t really care, to be quite honest. It’s never going to be solved so nobody here is right or wrong in their opinions.

The world renowned and two time state champion competitor taxidermist in the podcast that BH52 posted goes into great detail about the ear thing. I knew deer ears flop or go limp when muscles relax after being dead, but you have to look very closely to those photographs after listening to that podcast. At least for me anyways, it does appear much more obvious that something is not quite right about that photograph and others that the guy posted of some of his deer, and not just because of the ear thing only. Again, the taxi guy really opened my mind about studying deer photographs more closely and carefully going forward.
