Sorry to hear this Dave. Sucks losing a good friend and family member. You and your family are in my thoughts brother.

It’s rough but we’ve had many more good times. We agreed that the first bad day he has, he goes in. He’s had a few the last couple of weeks, but was fine yesterday and today. We all know it’s coming and try to avoid it however we can. I tried to prep myself with this thread but it still hit me like an Acme anvil. Leaving him this morning not knowing if I’d ever see him again really stuck with me today.

All these years I’ve said “I’m not racist, I have a black dog”...gonna have to buy a black coat or something now. 😂

I highly recommend “lap of love”. I just googled it and they have them in Ohio. We wanted to avoid our dog being stressed the last hours of her life, so when it was time, we had them come to our home. That was about 2 1/2 years ago. You can make an appointment and spend the last hours with your dog to say goodbye. I know it’s tough and some people want to avoid the heartache, but your dog deserves to leave this world surrounded by the family that they know. The vet we had came in and explained what was going to happen. When we were ready, he gave her a shot to put her to sleep, then a few minutes later, another shot to end her suffering. Here is a copy of the first page of the google search. I’m sure you can find one close to you...and it didn’t cost any more than if we took her to the vet.
