We took a couple days and went to Islamorada. What an experience!!! We did a full day and a half day. First time to the Keys for me. Lucky I didn’t go there when I was in my twenties, I may never have come back.

I took a mental health morning and fished a small stream for bass. The morning was ok, not great. I almost stepped on a giant yellowjacket nest, so I narrowly averted disaster.

I had caught a few, the water was more off color than I like, and I rarely throw topwater in creeks but went digging for one. I found a little mouse I tied over a year ago and had never fished. (it's wet in this pic)

I came to a deep hole with some wood cover, casted across and stripped it back in short bursts. The little mouse got flushed.

Solid fish for this little creek.

Tore the little jacks up on the beach for the first hour of light today. Plus a few lady fish. For the size of these fish they sure do bend the rod over.

Had to come unglued on the hook set to get swim bait jig head to set. Anyone have any good recommendations on swim bait heads? I usually use squadron for bass.

In my opinion the Zmann Headlockz HD is one of the best jigheads on the market right now along with their finesse line as well. I also really do like the Trokar by Eagle Claw swim bait jig heads. Can’t go wrong with either. Definitely more expensive than the strike king jig heads you use for bass but they have better hooks and will put perform them all day of the week.

Trokar are the majority of the hooks I use anymore. As well as gamakatsu. Especially when money is on the line….
