Where is the best place to eat in Columbus, preferably within about a half hour from the airport? We will be headed your way this weekend for basketball. Thanks!

Expensive best or greasy spoon best? For expensive Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse.
For good greasy spoon. Cap city.

For BBQ - I recommend Legacy Smokehouse (until I pick up my mobile kitchen next month).

For steaks - Hyde Park, J. Alexander's, Firebirds, Eddie Merlots.... they are all similar.

Italian - mid priced Carrabba's and J. Lui's for a bit more $

Asian - Molly Woo's

Favorite less "fancy", more unique places are Momo Ghar (everyone needs to try this place) and Sweet Carrot.

Another good place for something different is Hofbräuhaus.

Jeff Ruby Steakhouse. Finest Steak house in Columbus, imo. Smith and Wollensky, which is more on par with Hyde Park. The Refectory, if you are into country French cuisine and want an exceptional fine dining experience. lots of game on the menu there.

Your recommendations worked out great!

Saturday afternoon before our games we ate at J Alexanders, which was close to our hotel. The prime rib was great. It was so good that my wife said we should have just got the "extra cut" size and split it.

Later that night we ended up at Pies and Pints and had a few local brews on tap with a few slices.

I retract my Sweet Carrot recommendation. Last two times has been horrible. My business partner had a meh experience also.
