Drew killed a nice doe tonight. Cant do any live stuff due to no service here. First deer he has killed in a stand without me. I hung a stand about 30 yds behind him and just watched the show. Pretty proud of the young man he is becoming, in the woods and in life all around!

Yep. 3 or 4. I don't care at this point. I have work to do. Plus I get pleasure out of helping others get deer. I've found a bit of balance. Used to log ridiculous hours pursuing a deer or two. Now I'm just thankful for that "pretty darn good" deer. I'm not a mid 130s snob. Lol

First off, congratulations goes out to Drew!

Secondly, I find it a bit ironic I posted this earlier tonight. I saw this 8pt coming. I'm a sucker for big 8's. He was wide and heavy with long main beams. Short brows. Respectable g2s and g3s but not "wow factor". My initial thoughts were "This is a really nice 130-135" 8pt. He is wide and cool looking. I'm going to shoot if he presents the opportunity." Well. . . .I shot him. Off to do a write up.

I’m a sucker for big 8 pointers also...the score doesn’t matter...sometimes you see a buck and you tell yourself that this is one that I’d be happy to take. The wider the spread, the more I get tempted...mass helps also. That’s a good looking buck you got there.

Well changed things up this morning, after some reading I decided to go in closer to shooting light. This stand is hard to get to get in in the morning without setting off a three blow alarm. Got to the stand, did hear one deer run off, but no blowing.

Get settled in and see my normal button buddy trot by and go get something to eat.

Little while later I hear that damn doe blow, that is the third time she has busted me. If I see her I will put a hole in her for sure. This was well after I was in the stand, over an hour. She didn’t hear me, the windows on the box still had frost on them, in the direction she was, so she didn’t see me, she wasn’t down wind, so she shouldn’t have smelled me, I am smoked up by the way.

She is a smart one for sure.

Later saw two more flat tops and what I think was a doe, but she never came out for me to get a good look.

Oh well still awesome to be in the woods with the frost on the ground and hear the woods wake up.

At this point, I think she’s just blowing to blow. Every day the same thing...she’d of changed patterns by now.
