I went into "preliminary hunker down" mode last week after Iran launched their missiles. We filled up both vehicles and filled gas cans after I took my reserves and "stored" what I already had on hand in the quad, mower, generator, etc. It was a good dry run and I felt pretty solid about our position if shit would have went south. We live in a target rich environment in this neighborhood. When it gets bad enough that laws no longer govern, I have gun lovers on either side of me and a bunch of pansies up and down the road. We'll run things in pretty short order. 😂

Was anyone else at the station doing the same or just you? I remember like it was last night the trip to the station on 9/11, that place was a mess. Vehicles in the streets waiting to get in to get gas. Never seen a gas station so crowded for anything.

You guys brought up some good examples of how things can happen quick. It is also good to pay attention to the news on a daily basis. When the Iran problems started we were in the middle of moving my sister and I had no idea what was going on for a few days. Wasn't until we settled in a hotel the last night and finally turned the news on.

Not that I could tell. I was one of the few who went "nuclear" with the prep that night. I was certain we'd be fucked in a day or two.

I drive 80ish miles one way to work. I have a multifaceted approach.

In my car i have a black rolling duffle. Inside of it i have basic car stuff and my get home bag and supplies.

In my car at this moment:
At least one loaded magazine for the most common ccws i carry.
An additional 1-200rds of 9mm hardball and hollowpoint
Flashlight and additional batteries (plus i carry a flashlight on me and a headlamp in my messenger bag/murse)
Knife
Camelback daypack sized backpack
3L Camelback bladder
firestarting kit with 3 separate methods, tinder, fatwood, e.t.c
emergency bivy shelter
emergency blanket
small sleeping bag (summer weight)
rain jacket
wool vest
spare socks
lifestraw and iodine tablets
playing cards
2 MREs
2 first aid kits of various sizes/ uses
gloves
paracord
compass
road maps
cheap binos

In the winter i often throw an extra coat and heavier boots in the back.

My plan is to get home within 2 days (that's gonna suck but be doable).

We live within 5 miles of the farm so the family will be fine if they can get there or home.

I plan on being the grayman on my trip home.

I'm going to be the guy that shoots someone like you and laughs. I've got nothing prepped. I'll just take your stash.
I have no special abilities to keep myself immune from a bullet except self awareness and the comfort with my own firearm training. I cannot reach out like a
long gun can but I can hold my own with a pistol.

I also have been known to pack along the AR pistol when I feel the potential is there and it can ride on it's sling under my coat.

We all have that self awareness. You know the bozo who will be easy to loot and who you want as an ally. Lol

And those are the kind of comments that kill these threads. No one wants to talk about stashes or plans in fear of letting people know what they have. Shame that people have a first plan of killing someone to protect theirs. Meanwhile we have a group of people trying to prepare to protect theirs while leaving other alone. That are now scared to talk/share/learn.

I hate to say it but people without a moral compass or compassion will be a major problem. You may see someone in trouble and offer help, while the person acting like they need help will kill you for what you have. When the shit REALLY hits the fan, you will witness just how evil a person can be to ensure their own survival. Only way to survive in the long run is to get somewhere remote (Canada for example) and team up with like minded people that you trust with your own life..live off of the land via hunting and fishing, while avoiding all contact with outsiders. Most of us on this site are way more prepared than the average person, but still lack a lot of the skills to truly survive on your own. You’ll need people with a variety of skills to survive together.

Was thinking about this when driving home. Im sitting here talking about myself, but I'm the best/most prepared out of my wife and 3 boys. We are screwed since she is 25 miles the other direction from our home, 2 boys are 8 miles from home and south of her, and 1 is even further the other direction from her. I would get home and be all by myself.......this sucks.
