My Safari Club has had to cancel our Fundraising Banquet because of the corona virus. We were selling raffle tickets for a Kimber Caprivi .375 H&H Magnum. This rifle has an msrp of over $3000. We were selling tickets before the banquet but also planned on selling tickets at the banquet with a maximum of 500 tickets. Needless to say our ticket sales are not what we hoped, we are at less than 1/2 the value of the rifle. We will draw the winner in early June, video the drawing and post it online.

If anyone is interested tickets are $10 each. You can pay with PayPal at samdetwiler@msn.com

The rifle is at the Boardman Fin, Feather, Fur.

So Sam I'm not familiar with that caliber. Is it like an elephant gun or something? How would it compare to my .357 max? Bazooka vs a popgun?

.375 H&H is big by our standards. Big bears are probably the only game in North America that the .375 is not over powered for. It shoots 270 grain bullet at about the same velocity as a .30-06 shoots a 180. In Africa it’s the minimum most places for dangerous game like elephants and buffalo.

Even if you’d never use it, I’d say the price of a ticket (or 5) is worth the bragging points of having one in the safe. I’ll be getting with Sam before this is over. See how much extra scratch I can find until then.

What’s the greater cause here with the funds generated?

My SCI chapter spends most of the money we raise locally to support youth and veterans programs. We also support the American Wilderness Leadership School. https://safariclubfoundation.org/american-wilderness-leadership-school/

We do support the International that does a lot of political things. like working increase hunting and fishing access to government owned lands and Encouraging science based wildlife management.
