Looking forward to Nov. as my oldest brother is going to Illinois with us... Due to his wife being sick he has not ventured out in the woods for quite some time as he was obligated to taking care of her... Unfortunately she passed last year and now he is getting some what interested in getting in a stand... So next trip out to Illinois I'll put up a ladder stand in a productive spot... He insists he can still use his climber or use a hang on... That just ain't happening at his age... And when I say climber he means his TSS, hugging the tree the old fashioned way, no climbing aid... He was down in his basement the other day flinging arrows with his Mathews set on 55 lbs... This should prove interesting in Nov. When he climbs into a stand at the young age of 85.

I agree on the awesomeness of this adventure Rich! Says a lot about the both of you, him standing by his bride till the end and you for setting him up
In a great place. I hope you both are rewarded with great deer and even better memories buddy.....👍🏻👍🏻

Ric.... My brother had a great wife and she was always there for him, so when she got sick there was no way he'd leave her in someone else's care to go hunting... And believe me he loved his hunting... He's the one that got me going out to the Mid-West... I'm really looking forward to hunting with him this year and whether or not either of us gets a deer it's going to be a memorable hunt...

Well went out to Illinois to shed hunt and scout... First on the agenda was to get brother's ladder stand up... Guys put a cam up in this spot back in Nov... Over 900 pics on it, including a ton of bucks that survived the season..

Just to the right of this stand is a small overgrown field (crp) maybe a 1/4 acre that the deer are constantly going through when going between fingers of woods... There are like 4 major trails cutting through it. Stand is positioned about 10 yds in the tree line, giving him maybe a 20-25 yd shot to the main trail and a 15 yd shot into the corner where all trails join up and enter the woods.. My buddy hung a camera in front of where stand is watching field before he left in late Nov... Had close to 900 pics on it when checked last week...Glad to see alot of bucks made it through gun season... Might have to hang my Spartan there in late summer when I head out again... Ignore dates on camera as they are off..
