Man was I having some rough times trying to find deer and time to hunt. Started thinking I just really needed to do more then I was to get deer to my small piece of the pie. I few years back when I was in my “trophy” stage of hunting I used to use a mix of apple cider vinegar with my corn. So I started doing that again and deer showed up almost immediately.
Groups of 4-6 does and multiple different scrub bucks every few days. So I tried to stay out until youth season, that’s kinda what my rule is here at the house. Keep out until the kids gets a crack.
I had to work Saturday morning so Maddy and I only hunted the evening.
Almost dark thirty and I spotted white antlers in the creek bottom about 50 yards away. I waited until I was sure she would be able to see them before telling her. We watched that buck for 15 minutes walk back and forth trying to scent check. Pretty cool experience to have shared with her. She also didn’t think my gas was as funny as I did. 
Sunday was Levi’s turn to want to go. So we headed out for a mid day hunt between basketball.
We seen nothing, not even a squirrel. We had some good talks though and it was fun. I still think he’s young but always take him out, I don’t know that I’d let him shoot anything, but I’d know if something walked out kind of deal.
Sunday evening I really had no choice and had to get the leaves out of the yard. So I did that and drank as many beers as I could, as fast as I could. Good times with a fall fire, life was good.
Monday morning I hit the blind early, in and settled by 0600. Expecting big things I was locked in and sat till I had to take my wife to lunch around 1. Reshowered and resmoked I was back in the blind by 3.
Everything felt right and deer hadn’t moved for a couple of days so it had to happen. WRONG! Deer suck and act like cats doing whatever the hell they want! Skunked again...
Tuesday I had a pile of things to get done before headed north for the holiday so I didn’t hunt. Decided I’d go dump more corn for the few days I’ll be gone and the place was covered in fresh deer tracks! Stupid deer

Went and enjoyed a few days up at my folks house and punished my liver kicking stones and bitching about stupid deer. Got up today and made the drive home in time to watch some of that wolverine nut kicking contest. Then made a dash to the shed as the wind was perfect for a no prep hunt. First sit this year that the woods really is alive! Must be a couple hot squirrels around or something. Place is popping!
I just hope to see a deer again. Getting lonely and scary out here with all these tree rats...
