Generator???

Let’s talk about generators for a minute. I used to have a couple but someone else wanted them more then I did. It’s about time I do some replacing...I had a couple little Honda 2000ie and a bigger dewalt 8000. To be honest, I never really used any of them but feel like I need to have one around.

One unit this time to cover all my wants... it would be nice to run my AC on the camper and use if power goes out for an extended time on my house. So it needs to be mobile enough to move in and out of the truck but powerful enough to run my AC. I think it’s 15,000 btu, I’ll double check that.

I think there might be a thread on this already? Or maybe one just morphed into this conversation.

But Jim’s correct, Adam is the rain maker of the generator conversation.

I've been thru my share of generators. Some to use. Some to flip. My Champion dual fuel invertor style will run my camper. It is portable and quiet. 3500-4000w as I recall. Currently needs to go in for service. Their customer service was great but the service center is 45min away from me. Frustrating for a brand new generator.

This size will NOT run your house. If you want to plug in sump pump, and a couple freezers it would be fine I'd guess. Life is about compromise. If you want to run your house. . .portable may not be the ticket. You'll need a couple solid fellas to load a generator in your truck if it is big enough to run your house too. Low end will likely be 8-10kw. That will likely run "most" of a house.

Phil that is really disappointing. I would push for them to do a swap due to you having a lemon. What is it doing? I know we talked about it, can't recall issue/symptoms.

Dave, talk with Dustin, he was looking to get something similar to Phil.

Stache has a blue.

Jesse has an orange.

I run yellows.

The red and blues are tried and true but the yellows and orange are stealing market share. If you are needing to get it into a truck bed, I don't see you going over 4500w unless it's 2 in parallel.

I’m not looking to run my house, just a few things in it. Biggest pull being my well pump.

I’ve also entertained the idea of covering the roof barn in solar panels...

Once Ohio starts doing incentives like the rest of the world...you’ll see solar power sky rocket. Until that happens, it’s a real investment and take a while to get the return.

Probably would help if we actually got some sun in NE part of the state ☀️😂

Issues switching between gas/LP. Said it is a carb issue. I can swap a carb. No clue how this thing comes apart. I've had every screw out of it. On phone with tech support. Thing doesn't come apart. Screw it. Let dealer mess with it. I'll keep using my 5500w 20yr old generator that is louder than a freight train.
