Great trip fellas! Guessing Rich will be waking up here shortly.
Dave....You hit the nail on the head with that comment... Rolled into my driveway at 3:15 am... Exactly 18 hours from the time we left Illinois... Long ass ride... But I do it several times a year, be back out there late Aug. to hang stands... Every trip is an adventure so the ride is well worth it... This trip was no different... It started out meeting Tall Chad and then Dustin and Chad... It was great meeting you guys... We arrived in Illinois sometime after 12am. After a short survey of beds in our lodge (its actually an office trailer that has been fixed up very nicely) we decided on one that the squatch would fit in... Sat. morning found us eating a big breakfast of corn beef hash made for us by my friend... Then it was off to the farm I hunt in Pike county, where we found a few sheds and I was happy to see a ton of fresh deer sign... Chad was overwhelmed with the beauty of this farm... We were pleased as we found some sheds and I found a spot to hang a new stand in Aug... I was telling Chad all morning how good the pizza was at the local Casey's out there ( This is a gas station similar to a Pilot station) however their pizza is kick ass... I think next time Chad visits Illinois that will be one of his first stops... As he woofed it down his comment was hmmmm GOOD... Sat. night we went out to a local eatery for dinner... Once again Chad was happy... I had prime rib and he had catfish fillets... Sun, found us walking the main farm and another further North of town... No sheds were found, but Chad explored some new ground, and we never even scratched all of our property... LOL. Sun. night Chads eyes lit up again as a big corned beef dinner with cabbage and red potatoes was served...:eek: This was followed by him scoffing down 3 pieces of cheese cake that I made...:eek: Love it when someone goes back for seconds after you make something... Must have been good... LOL
Besides the ride home that about sums the trip up... As far as sheds??? Who knows what happens to them... We had a ton of great bucks make it and next fall we'll have another great bunch of quality bucks to hunt... Happens every year... I'm baffled when it comes to sheds... But the trip was worth it as I met 3 great members of TOO and this made the trip a HUGE SUCCESS... Two things I learned out of this trip were that Chad fell in love with our properties and THAT BOY CAN EAT.....:eek::eek::eek:

Great write up on your adventure Rich! Glad you guys had a blast and you met a few more TOO members along the way! Most of all glad you both made it back home to your loved ones. Something we all take for granted on long trips.
