Congrats to all! Heck of a bull especially for a DIY public land hunt.

The boys have the elk off the mountain now. Tyler took it to a processor to get it cut, packaged and caped out. They left their gear up there so they are headed back up to hunt the rest of the week. The bull died 2.6 miles from the truck, 2000 feet up. They thought about getting someone to pack it out but it's so rugged they didn't think a mule could get there safely.
Ethan watched the whole hunt unfold, long before Tyler ever saw the bull. He even told him "shooter coming" and started raking a tree when he watched the bull tear up a tree.

The boys are headed home. The rest of the week was really slow. Tyler called in one silent bull but Ethan couldn’t get on it. My son in law is hunting across the valley from them and has heard one bugle all week. He did see a big bull moose though.
