We went over to my buddy’s place today. Tony raises birds to put out but we still have to play be season rules and dates. We killed seven of the 8 he put out but we had to earn the last couple. Tonys dog is in heat so we just had Ruger and Peanut today. Those dogs impressed me to no end. Peanut has really shown his super star potential lately, especially today. He looked like a seasoned pro and he is still a pup. Pointing, tracking running birds and retrieving. I’m telling you boys this pup is awesome!

Sitting here wondering what you guys could be getting into today a thought popped in my head. "Steelhead" You guys plan on making a trip up for them?

Making me think about @Riverdude now.
It’s funny you mention that. I’ve never fished for them but just recently thought about giving that a try. My buddy, Steve, makes the trip often and seems to really enjoy it. It would be all new to me.
FWIW, we did nothing exciting today. Shot several hundred arrows, dumped some corn and put out a couple of cameras. Drove around at sunset and looked for deer. We only saw four, three of which were on public land just a short distance from two parked trucks.

I was trying to think of a box that wasn't checked. It took me a while, lol. You guys are pretty well rounded in the outdoors. Go check that box! 😂
Waterfowl- I’m completely ignorant about waterfowl. I’ve listened to waterfowl hunters talk about how much fun it is d I’ve said I’d like to give it a try. I’ve only had one invite me along... and he moved to California before I ever took him up on the offer! Lol

You mentioned this earlier this season. I did think about it, but decided against it because of initial investment. I also didn't want to be part of adding another animal to your mini farm! 🤣

Just know that I'm trying to figure out a way to spend your time and money though. Blahahahaha

BTW, I need to bring the boys by. Neither of them can draw them.

Whenever you get the chance just send a text. As bad as I hate to admit it, I’m having to work a good bit right now. A couple key employees are out due to surgery and Covid. This is going to be another busy week for me.

Our duck just died a couple weeks ago... the turkeys are a good investment. Mason speaks their language which is handy during turkey season.

Will do. It'll be weekend at the earliest. We will see what the weather does and schedules. Maddy has buck fever really bad now wanting to show them boys up.

Looks like a water dog is in your future. 😂

The last day of. Pheasant season already. Went quickly. Clint and I hit several small public pieces with seeing any sign of birds. Ended the afternoon at a trusty old private spot. We put three roosters is in the air, I killed one. Clint opted not to shoot one due to a house beyond the flushing bird and he busted the other. We had just Peanut and Ruger today. They performed flawlessly. Lots of fun, I look forward to next season.

Mason and I spent the day with Jamie, Lefty and Slick yesterday. We had a grand time, shot an absolute pile of rats. Jamie found a beautiful matching set of sheds from a young buck that will be a giant if things go well for him. The little gun (Henry) that I recently purchased for squirrel hunting suddenly shoots amazingly well thanks to Jamie’s generosity. He brought me a brick of cci. The little gun really shoots that ammo well. Thanks again Jamie! Again, I’ll let Jamie’s squirrel journal tell the tale as there is no way I’ll recount the days events as well as Jamie will.

Did y’all make it without getting stuck? Asking for a friend 😂
