Did ya happen to soak in dawn dish detergent & water? Several days of this soaking and changing the water will help to pull out the grease in the skull. After that you could use hydrogen peroxide to "bleach" the skull. It will give you a consistent appearance of the bone. Don't get hydrogen peroxide on antlers or they'll turn white also.

I soaked it in dawn dish soap for a day, scrubbed it with a toothbrush, rinsed, and then soaked it in peroxide water for 2 days.

When using Dawn dish soap be sure to use the Red Dawn called Dawn Oxi ........that stuff is unreal! I had some in a cracked container that I repaired with super glue and it ate the glue out of the joint!

I always used the Dawn Original for soaking. Then 3% peroxide with NO water, just straight peroxide.

Thanks guys, I feel a little better about the whole situation with this buck now that he won't totally go too waste. Its still sad that all that meat was wasted. The other guy that hunts the property I found him on has trail cam pics of him the last 4 years and he said his rack was always like that, so he was definitely a mature buck.
