I've had the opportunity to talk to a lot of people in my line of work and can honestly sadly agree with you for the most part. I will stick to supporting Quail and Pheasants Forever. Birds don't grow antlers therefore the upland hunting section of hunting hasn't been as tainted, and honestly those folks just seem to genuinely care more about our resources.

I didn’t mean it like that. I have a cross gun and have killed several with it. It was fun at first, but to me there is nothing about “bow” in it. It’s a handicapped rifle if you ask me. I no longer used it after I killed a decent buck w it. Only bought one after hurricane katrina took everything I had and figured I could get my small boys to hunt archery for a few years when they were little…..never happened.I re-read the article 2x and this is the only mention of a weapon type and it says: "I had my crossbow so I slipped that way and spotted his antlers in the grass." I missed that sentence while reading through it, on the first pass.
I hunted with my crossbow for the first time, last year and took a doe. However, it was a very uneventful and anti-climatic kill, compared to my compound or recurve. I didn't care for it, but it serves a purpose. To each their own.
You exactly right at it does have a purpose. But I did put a negative tone on it after seeing what he has killed and never stepped up to the bigger challenge. Once I kill a slammer w my compound, I will hunt w a trad bow.
To each their own, hunt legally and enjoy the great outdoors.

Preach on! & be safeI have grown to hate big deer. I used to love seeing them and reading the stories. Now I see how they change a community and hurt the locals. I used to cringe a little back when @bowhunter1023 would use the two words "industry and career". Now when I read them words I notice I'm clenching my teeth. They are so spot on for this thing I still call a tradition and I refuse to let go. It was so much more fun when we hunted for ourselves and size really didn't matter. Back when we celebrated spikes and forks. I just told a group of guys last night that I might shoot a spike with my son this week, just to do it. The memories that'll come from that will be epic and that's what I'm trying to show him. Not screwing your buddy over a few inches of bone. Life fucks me enough, I don't need to add karma/bad juju.

Don't think I was hating on the guy that wants a mature deer. People should hunt for what they want to hunt for. It is your tag to do with what makes you happy. But don't look down on me if I ruin a scrub bucks day
