Want me to go ahead and shoot it for you too? How do you like the meat processed?

Sarcasm there. Honestly, those are big goals for a few days of hunting. If roles were reversed, I'd be on state websites, forums, OnX, AND putting boots on the ground early. As in. . . Last March. In fact, roles ARE reversed. I am researching hunting your area right now. I haven't once logged onto a forum and asked for specifics about where to find a trophy. Do the leg work Mike. There are people here who will help you. Myself included. Finding a deer this caliber takes a lot of hours generally. Lots of research. Lots of time in the area. I wish you much luck.

I will take that guided trip w you also. I mean... do I have enough “like” points? Asking for a friend

I have some sports pinned on Shawnee in my onX maps.

It's all in good fun man. Stick around and you'll pick up some gems.

Public in Kentucky is good. A lot of walking and still hunting, but haven’t had an issue shooting a mature buck annually, at least for the past ten years. Just wondered if the hunting is comparable in Ohio.

And don't let an a-hole lime me bother you, haha. Been probably 20 years since I've hunted either one. But always a chance at nice bucks in both, although deer populations have declined dramatically since then. Like others point out, there's no shortage of great guys on here willing to help someone out, even a stranger. Stick around, it's the best outdoors site by a mile

Lol I was just looking for a starting point folks, since I’d be limited with time to scout. Plan on covering ground and scouting while I hunt. Just didn’t wanna waste a ton of time to go to a place that was overhunted or had no deer at all. Sorry to sound like a bum! I don’t want anyone’s secret spots! Just looking for a starting point!

We get a little carried away sometimes😂.

Seriously though, if you have the track record you say, you should do just fine and should be telling us how you do it. That’s a great record!

My advice would be.Get yourself few cases of beer, a few steaks, lower your expectations. Consider anything else other than what’s wrote above a bonus.

Good luck.!

Bowkills and Floki hit the nail on the head !!! You have high expectations for hunting state land that has already been pounded for several months ... A late season hunt on state land with only several days to hunt and scout none the less expecting a 140 class or better... Better off saving your $$$$ and sit home... But if you just want to get away for a few days and get some exercise... Go for it... Wishing you the best of luck...

Not picking on you but what starting point are you looking for. You know where the public ground is located. Do what you said and park the vehicle and put boots on the ground. If any gives you more than that then they are likely tipping their secret spots. Or they are sending you to a gar hole. Lol. If you have killed 10 mature buck in a row then you should be fine.

Hey mike, I have never hunted Kentucky, and last year was my dad and I’s first out of state venture. We don’t use onx but something similar, and we scouted through that in the Shawnee, Wayne, and several other smaller pieces of public somewhat close to Shawnee. We made our first trip in March and then 3 or 4 more before season scouting areas that we found on the HuntStand app that were pinch points of some sort or possible food sources or bedding areas. Wayne seems to have a much better deer population but we got better buck pics at Shawnee. Shawnee is lower deer population than the public land we hunt in Va but definitely a larger caliber of deer there. We have hunted mtns all of our lives and we scouted miles and miles of terrain in the Shawnee and we had nothing to show for it at the end of the season lol! That being said we had a blast and will be back. We hunted one or two long weekends in bow season, and over a week of bow end of October beginning of November, and all of late season muzzleloader. Bow was def more action since it was closer to the rut. Dad passed on a nice 120” 8 point(not Shawnee) and had several more close encounters(at Shawnee) And had some dandy’s walk past his stand and camera when he wasn’t there lol! I had some fun encounters and I'm a homo dallied around and missed an opportunity on a mature 7 point with some Kickers. I wasn’t going to shoot him, and by the time he was out of range I realized what caliber buck he was 🤦🏻‍♂️

Curious as to what your experience was like??
