    Coyote Challenge 2018-19

I’ve been getting out about once a week since deer gun season. The pups have matured into a pretty good pack of young dogs with few bad habits. (knocking on wood).

    Coyote Challenge 2018-19

The fellas over in Harrison Co. did a little damage.

    Cold weather cottontails

Boy that was a good day. We went out last Friday and really struggled to jump rabbits. I think we only had 5 up all day.

    Where has everyone gone?

    No doubt!

    Where has everyone gone?

Oh man. I remember having those boots in the 70's! 0 grams of thinsulate in those things.

    Where has everyone gone?

Got out on Saturday down in Harrison County. Frost made it tough at first but things got rolling pretty well. Had one chase go 2.5 hours. Finally shot the rabbit so we could give them a water break! We probably had 8 up all together. We never really got out of sight of the truck all day.

    Live From the Stand 2017.

Little buck came in about 8:30 and bedded down dead straight away 30 yds. In front of my stand. Not a stick between us. I have been pinned for almost an hour. About froze Couldn’t stand it anymore. Busted him and some deer behind me when I moved. Think I’ll drive over east tonight if the wind...

    Where has everyone gone?

I can't get my friends in gear until after deer gun season. I run my dog 4-5 days a week year round around where I live. But can't seem to get anyone else to go any earlier than December. A lot of the landowners we hunt on don't want us to start before deer season either.

Wet and miserable. Only saw one little buck and about 40 turkeys.

Bullet selection with a 45-70, for coyotes?

If my first priority was coyotes I wouldn't have thought of the 45-70 first. I bought one whatever year they first became legal in Ohio for deer. I've shot a couple different types of factory ammo through it and was pretty underwhelmed by the performance. I decided after a couple years that a 12...

The race is on 2016/2017 rabbit season

Yeah it was. Nobody had been in there yet this year. The guy bow hunts it through January so we usually don't get to hit it until Feb.

The race is on 2016/2017 rabbit season

Haven't checked on you guys for awhile. Sounds like everybody is still after them. I've been getting out about once a week and it's been mostly good. I skipped the really warm weekend because of the deer ticks though. Hunted 4 young dogs near Cadiz yesterday. We jumped 12. Most of them ran -...

    Lets go

My sentiments exactly - Lets Go! Glad to get gun season behind us. I'll be heading down to Harrison Co. on Sat. to meet up with some friends and hunt for real for the first time. I'm hoping it's cold enough this week to slow the daggone ticks down some. They were really lousy down there...

    Check this out

Dang! Somebody beat me to it! I bought a drone last fall and planned on filming a hunt all winter. Never got it out of the truck though. Wasn't quite confident enough in my pilot skills yet / sketchy weather / handling the dogs....always found a reason not to do it. Thanks for sharing!

    2016 Coyote Killers

I was rabbit hunting, but the boys and their dogs were doing the lords work over in Harrison county yesterday!

    "J"'s Rabbit season

Sounds like you had a workout down south. Glad you had a good day. It's a tough thing to decide when it is time to retire a good old dog. I had a 12 year old male when my current old dog was a pup. He was on the heavy side and moving a little slow when the season opened but it was impossible...

    "J"'s Rabbit season

I planned on meeting the boys in Carroll Co. on Saturday. Got up early and chickened out after going outside. The day sweetened up by afternoon so had a short run out behind the house. We did get together Sunday as planned. Absolutely beautiful day. We hunted 4 young dogs. Starting at 9:00...

    Rabbit

Love that picture. That smile tells it all! I have son named Drew too. Before he was able to get through the briars by himself, I carried him on my shoulders. He's 6'5", 225 now and a freshman in college. He is a busy young man but he still likes to go hunting with Dad (and our beagles)...
