    Pistol hunting in Ohio?

I used to hunt with a super red hawk .44 magnum. Killed a hand full of deer with it when I hunted with it. Off a bench I could put 6 shells in a 3" group at 100 yards. Hornady 240 xtps grouped best out of it. It was nice going hands free into the woods with a climber on your back. Even...

Thinking about moving to Ohio, what part has some of the best hunting?

I used to hunt in Stark county and miss hunting monster deer there. It was a sleeper for giant deer.

    Left eye dominance

I would put cash money on it. How much would you like to loose?

    Crossbows...

I shoot both a compound and a crossbow. If I wake up to go hunting and everything hurts I take the crossbow. If I feel good I take the compound.

    Left eye dominance

I can shoot a bow with both eyes open either right or left handed. Left eye dominate shoot right handed. Have never had an arrow go wide left since I was a kid.

Hats off to Ohio Division of Wildlife

Unfortunately if the DNR put a restriction on public lands more NR hunters would look for land to lease. This would push out more hunters who do not have deep pockets to compete with some of the ridiculous lease prices that many are quick to jump on.

    Transportation Research Center controlled hunt

I bow hunted that area when they had bow hunting draws there. Think the last time that they did this was 2010. Anyways the areas that you will be hunting are not close to the factory. The land is slightly rolling and thick in areas. Not plumbrook thick though. The area had more bucks than...

    Snapping Turtles

Exactly. Shooting a turtle with fiberglass is a hot mess.

    Snapping Turtles

I just looked it up and it says it is illegal to take turtles by shooting including archery equipment.

    Ohio whitetail lottery hunts.

the very first year they did require the background checks it was a royal pain in the dick. That putting it lightly. They required you to go to the sheriffs office and get finger printed. Then you had to send like 20 dollars to the FBI to get the background check. The process takes around 6...

    Ohio whitetail lottery hunts.

I have gun hunted plumbrook 3 times, bow hunted Ottawa, gun hunted Ottawa, and bow hunted Honda. Plumbrook can be a decent hunt if your in a good section. If your not like my last time in. It sucks ass. Not many deer in there any more. On a good day they kill 25-30 deer combined for a hunt...

Considering buying hunting land in Michigan rather than Ohio.

I have hunted Michigan for years. If you want to kill a big deer you are wasting your time. I have a friend that manages his 80 acre farm. To give you an idea he has owned it for 35 years. I killed the biggest deer off his farm ever. It scored 129" gross. When I first saw it I was going to...

    Stark County late season GIANT!!!!!!!!

In contract language most legal council charge an extra fee to add a E.A.D. clause at the end of the document. If helps protect the lease party from butt hurt locals who get squeezed out of thier local honey holes.

    I know sumthin

I don't understand the negative comments being thrown at Mike. I'm sure that he will do his best get his points across and represent hunters the best that he can. I would rather have a avid sportsman on that board versus a farmer or insurance agency head representing what we as hunters want...

Rumor Has it. No Ohio Baiting

Bait or no bait i could care less just as long as the person killing eats thier deer.

Rumor Has it. No Ohio Baiting

Kinda like the trick of placing a sweet potatoe down the front of your pants. Works really well unless your too fucked up and put it in the back of your pants. Then it never works.

    just an observation

Growing up in Geauga county I do not have much respect for the Amish. They have to follow the same game laws just like everyone else. You can call the DNR when you see violations. I have had no luck or know of anyone who has had luck reporting game violations when it comes to Amish. Would...

Rumor Has it. No Ohio Baiting

michigan is a totally different animal. If you have not been there to see what it's like you probably would not understand. Walking to your stand without a bag of corn over your shoulder would be as bad as leaving your bow in the truck. I think that if Ohio were to ban it most who do bait...
