    What Determines Your Stand Location?

I hunt almost 100% public. I rarely post up in the same tree twice. And scout pretty much everytime I am going out, I have a predetermine area(s) with a plan based on what I think is going on from aerials. Tree selection is somewhere between bedding and food with wind to my advantage...Closer...

    Pork Chops

Killed this boar the other day back home in Louisiana. Public land, jumped him out of a blow down and gave him a 150 grain lead suppository from the 7mag. Thought I missed when I found a blew up sapling, was moving on and found a speck of blood then the gates opened. Follow it from a distance...

    Arg

Man that stinks... Bad thing too is if you kill him this season be it your daughter or whomever the meat likely will not be good. Killed a nice MGMT buck in South Texas years back, didn't notice limping but he had been shot 2 weeks prior, perfect left and right but a few inches too low. Lot's of...

    Damn nocturnal bastards!

That could be a factor if the tract you hunt is smaller and the bedding is on a neighboring property, could limit you a good bit

    Damn nocturnal bastards!

Very nice bucks.. That is a monster 8! Naturally deer are nocturnal, younger deer don't always follow the script and there are many factors that can play into it and change things a bit but the big boys usually follow it to a T and that's how they get to be mature... Bed during the day and feed...

All good...I actually made my post without fully reading it.. So I was at error and your statement was on point but rather than delete it I just added the little update at the end because that reply does happen a lot when guys ask for some public guidance. looking for information on dillon wildlife area

Pre-scout on Earth..come up with a plan and get several way points to check draw out your paths to take if you got a GPS capable of that. Spend at least the entire first day scouting, preferably more. Don't look at scouting as wasting time you could be hunting but rather as insurance that you...
