    Pan fish?

The way I fillet the skin comes off with the scales. My dad scales the traditional way. Both are just as tasty!

    Show us your wood (pile)

Today was my first furlough day so I spent it at the farm. First I put some T-posts in 8 feet apart at the stack, then dropped a dead standing oak and split it up. Man it is nice wood! I bought a moisture meter and most of it is 14 to 17%. Except for the first few feet near the stump where...

Work gave us a 15 day furlough spread out between now and the end of the year. So I told the wife I’d split wood on those days to stay busy and hopefully sell enough next year to recover the cost of the splitter and saw. So today I put together an area to stack it. It’s about 55 feet long...

My first attempt at a hinge cut today. A big standing dead locust trunk with a slight lean. Limbs had already fallen. It was about 20 inches at the base and had 40 feet or so of pretty massive trunk left. I used some felling wedges, and after some time and a bunch of creaking and cracking it...

Anyone have any experience with Black Diamond brand splitters? They sell them out here at Theisens and I see Rural King also carries them. The 25 ton is currently on sale here for 30% off ($699). The reviews I looked at are pretty positive but figured I’d ask here.

    Boot suggestions

My Mucks are 3 years old. I wear them pretty much for all my outdoor activities, except late season when it is bone chilling cold. They have held up and feel great.

    2020 shrooms!

Article says some get sick when they eat them, others don’t. But they are not morels.

    2020 shrooms!

These are not morels. Hollow stem, but the top is not attached all the way down. The tops are more like a skirt than a Christmas tree.

    2020 shrooms!

Took the family out looking today and found our first ones of the year. All small greys and a single yellow. Found some false ones - included a pic of them too.
