Dave, you have given him a basic set-up. Your a good Dad.

I can say that my 2 kids cost me more in start-up gear or stuff that they later lost interest in (like sports, music and gear) / than I ever spent in upgrades to a interest they stuck with.

Hope he sticks with it! Enjoy the time!

Hey that works perfectly, especially if he's not sure about shooting yet. I'm in the same boat with my son, loves hunting with the crossbow and not sure on the regular bow yet. We went to a shop a while back and he really liked one there but heck I can't get him to shoot his smaller bow or his sister's old bow that actually fits him good.

Thanks guys, it's been a hell of a day. We didn't even get a chance to take it out of the package. He was more interested in toys, which is fine. It'll be sitting here if he gets the bug. I'm not going to push him on it at all. I know his younger brother is begging for me to get it out. Lol

He finally got the bug yesterday and I'd wished I'd done a better job setting it up... It needs a few things before being accurate at all. First will be some sort of rest for the nock. It doesn't have anything besides some rubber that moves freely. He didn't seem to care and still had fun just being able to hit the target.

He doesn't have the strength to shoot it more then a few times. So he would shoot it a few times and let the other kids go while he rested. Thinking he needs some help with form...[emoji23]

Yup! The wife just text me that him and Brian are out shooting it right now. Brian turns 15 tomorrow and asked my wife if I'd buy him one for his birthday...anyone have an old junker bow for about $100? He's 6-3...and will most likely only shoot it for the month he's spending with us.

Do your best to get it set up as good as you can. They can get frustrated and can loose interest, and fighting the equipment will make it worse.

And the shy one had to try.

This little damn thing has been the evening fun for the family. Money well spent! These other kids were very scared of it at first. Being from inner city Anchorage, they'd never even seen a bow before in real life. Look at them go!!!
