I put some miles on every week compared to most people and have noticed that more coyotes are becoming road kill then deer. I believe it was J that noticed this one his trip around the USA as well. What about anyone else?

Also makes me wonder if these accidents go under deer accidents for insurance purposes...

I drive all over the northern half of the state all the time. I hardly ever see roadkill coyotes.

I wonder if it’s tracked like deer...I’ll have to dig around when I get a chance. Smacking a coyote at 75 mph on 35 has to cause some damage.

Quick search didn’t bring up much. It did refer me as to how to make a claim if I hit a deer... I’d venture to say that it falls under deer vehicle accident. I’m not motivated enough today to send an email to different insurance companies.

It's also the tail end of the yote fit, which spikes road kills. On our trip to MO, we saw several dead yotes and barely saw and deer until MO, but once in the Show Me State, there were dead deer all over the road.

I get excited when I see a dead yote along the road. I see many more deer. Not uncommon at all. Dead yotes, not so common.

I saw several dead deer between columbus and Jackson yesterday, no yotes. I have seen several in the past few months in that stretch though. Not sure what the correlation or reason might be

I will also add that I didn’t see any north/West of 71 on my trip this past weekend.

I did some more digging last night on the coyote vehicle collisions and couldn’t find anything. I think I’m correct in my assumption. I’m sure when Joe gets bored he’ll be all over it...we all know how much he loves insurance companies😂.

I can think of 4 coyotes we saw dead last time down to Ohio along the way. Went to my daughter's softball game that was up north a ways here in Michigan and I saw one coyote dead but literally could have been 80-100 deer dead along the expressway. There were so many that after a while I said I should have started counting them from the start, after that I counted 45 before saying f-it.
